The funny thing about this whole situation is that Stevie Williams did a similiar thing in his career. Stevie left a skate core shoe company - DC Shoes during DC's peak, for the non-core Reebok. Stevie had two hugely popular signature skate shoes for DC. Reebok paid him a lot of money to sign with them which he did.
