its all in the driver but stock for stock the 5th gen vq doesnt always beat a 6th gen ive messed around with several auto and 6spd 5thgens and beaten them( not by much) with my 04 5spd auto max sl but the 7th gen beats the pants off of any year i raced one from 70 to 100 and stayed on his back door but then he slowed down but off the line im sure theyre torquier and faster off the line i dont like these 5th gen guys who are modded who talk trash to stock 6th gens stay within your playin field

Yeah, I test drove an 05' 3.5SE (5AT) back then and I have to say I was very impressed with how quick this car was! 95+ mph in the 1/4 mile is pretty respectable for an automatic V6 family sedan... I'm sure the 6MT is even quicker. They didn't have any 6-speed SE's to test drive otherwise I would have taken that one for a spin. Nice cars.

I have a 04 max with I/H/E 4sp auto my gearing runs out at about 140 but I'm getting a 6sp swap with a V-afc2 tune this week so my top out speed should be closer to 160ish. If you want a higher top end sp look in to a 6sp. I'll will post up a vid as soon as its done.

I have a 2004 maxima and the cutoff point is not until 149-152 if you have an open road atlease 2 miles you know trust me put the pedal to the medal 0-105 you can floor it then you will feel the car lose power take your foot off the pedal and mash it again the power is back and you are off again and it will still pull. Maxima forever

The 08 can't be no difference from any other 6.5 gen stock maxima. By 08 Nissan was already getting there resources and improvements necessary and importantly getting their CVT revised for the 09 murano and maxima they won't have wasted the time for just the 08 model with the 09 maxima to be released a few months after.

Not really cause the hp dropped matter a fact the hp is really unchanged between the 6 gen and 6.5 gen maxima its just they changed the power ratings so it appeared that the 07-08 have less power but its not true. But it is cause of the cvt that they are slower than the 04-06 maxima.

It wasn't detuned as i said before the drop is due to the new SAE power ratings, the power between the two cars are the same. But the CVT has a sluggish response and its also heavier than the automatic transmission so thats why the 07-08 isn't as fast off the line as the 04-06 model.

any manual with out perform any automatic.... The only difference with a 6gen it gets 0-20 on launch and the 6.5gen gets 0-15 on launch.... so there is a difference of sluggishnes in your first 60 feet.

The CVT on both the Maxima 07 and the first gen Murano's had a bit of a sluggish response time. I have seen some sites that posted the 07 maxima 0-60 in the very 6 second range where as the 04-06 some sites have it anywhere from the mid to low 6 seconds. Remember the first of something is never the best. The cvt on the 07 max was the first. From what I read the one on the 09 they got out all the kinks that held back the cvt on the 07 max and that lag of acceleration is now gone.
