  • I want to go back in time, go to that concert and throw my panties at him!

  • I love the song, I love his voice, I love his costume , I love his body's expressions ... well I love everything ..... Play again !!!

  • That clip was so cool!!! thanx for posting

  • The last thing I needed to see Danny Elman do is play trombone... *sigh.... only joking. I mean, trombone is probably the sexiest instrument a person can play, but... yeah, he's just my favorite composer. Nothing more haha. Although I also have developed this thing for redheads...

  • I never thought he could get any more perfect.

WHY DID HE STOP PLAYING THE TROMBONE?!

  • @Keira13 TO SING!

  • @dragancer WHY CAN'T HE STILL DO BOTH?! D:

  • @Keira13

I don't know, but he's losing his hearing and stays the hell away from any stage, with or without the trombone.

  • @mobile513 it's a damn shame.

    he writes kick-ass scores though

  • kidAkarma - shouldn't that be "*almost* all the original members left"??? If I remember right, Leon Schneiderman was a member from inception in 1972 ...

  • I think that's my friend Brad Kay on the piano. I can't see him in this clip, but it sounds like him, and he played in this band at this time (and also in the movie).

  • *annoying fangirl squeal*

  • @MagnumStellarz *higher pitched, more annoying fangirl squeal*

Danny can make even THIS ridiculous outfit sexy!

  • love the high pitched voice!!!

    2 sesy!

  • I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but this song is much older than Cab Calloway.

Thanks for posting this though, it's quite the unique piece.

  • i LOVE DANNY ELFMAN!!!!!!!!! HES SO FRIKN AWESOME!!!!!! XDXDXDXDXD

    MUCH LOVE 4 DANNY ELFMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's like a burlesque version of Minnie the Moocher in Hell. I love it. I haven't seen enough of the really old stuff.

  • Well-said, PJ. It's quite the shame that either (a) affordable time travel isn't available, or (b) more hasn't survived.

  • i was just saying that maybe some of us already have our eyes on him, : )

  • Now ladies, why are you all fighting over my Danny?

  • your Danny?

  • Wishful thinking.

  • BITCH PLEASE.

    I HAD HIM FIRST

    ...... jk :D

    DANNY LOVERS UNITE!

  • C'mon guys, there's no NEED to fight over him... if the guy can handle being a brilliant pop songwriter/performer and composer at the same time, I'm sure he has enough love to go around...

  • I willing to fight over danny elfman n Im a straight guy! thats how cool he is

  • You're Funny, dear! :)

  • he can be my devil, Mmm!

  • I CLAIMED HIM FIRST HO.

    lol jk

  • oh i'm sorry! i didn't mean too! haha

  • lol we are just fangirls lmao

  • rachellynn i have been in love with Danny forever!!! he's sooooo sexy.. grrrrrrrrrr

  • Oh my word that man is so hot.

  • well i'll bet he can't play the guitar. Oh wait you said he could. well i'll bet he can't fly.

  • I wouldn't put it past him.

  • man, Danny Elfman plays trombone aswell?! That kids a miracle worker.

  • He plays piano, guitar, trombone, clarinet, violin, xylophone, and more that I can't think of off the bat.

  • And he's SELF TAUGHT! Genius.

  • Hell just got hotter! MeOW!

  • Ha! And my Father says I am the only girl who find's Danny Elfman attractive...

  • @Rachellynn1992

your Father doesn't know just how wrong he is...

That's OK my dad just starred at me and made a face like you're not my daughter lol

at least he knows OIngo! ;)

  • Whats The Dvd Called? Sorry,I Live In A Cave D:

  • OMG he's too hot

  • Oh, I agree!

  • Jeeeeeziz, He's fine!!

  • Smells like Oogie Boogie. I actually just got it. Oingo Boingo - Oogie Boogie? Yes?

  • No actually its an Irish song about the St.James Infirmary in Dublin Ireland! Sorry Twit Head!

  • Wow... He's brilliant!

  • I am totally in love

  • St.James Infirmary is actually an old Irish song right from Ireland around 1860!

  • It's not Irish, it's an 18th century (1701-1800, you idiot) English folk song.

  • That's baby-making music!

  • This sexy devil gives a WHOLE new meaning to the word 'horny'!

    *continues to drool over him*

  • L...O...L!!!!!! That is SOOO true! Amazing comment there, my friend. :) Hats off to you!!!! :D

  • Well said! *applauds*

  • Well, when Danny Elfman was made leader of the band by Richard Elfman, the band had already been together (at around the point of this video) for about 8-9 years. So it's not "all the original members," because even Danny Elfman was not an original member of The Mystic Knights. (by the time the first cd came out that involved Danny Elman other than The Forbidden Zone, it wasn't even called that anymore anyway).

  • Now there's something you don't see every day! Thanks for sharing!

  • OMG!!!!! *SQUEE* That was flippin amazing!!!!

  • You are in danger of third degree burns when watching old school danny....

whew... anybody know a good doctor? Cause I just CAN'T STOP!!!

  • Ahahaha, so true.

  • Brilliantly stated, and oh so true...

  • danny made a hot sexy devil!

  • Danny looks soooooo..... good in this!

  • Guess who's got the greatest singing style of all?

    Indeed. Danny does.

  • Thanks for sharing these little gems. Didn't he also sing a song that sounded similar in that movie Corpse Bride? Anyway, thanks so much for these awesome clips!!!

  • Well he did all the music for Corpse Bride so prolly.

  • He did all the music for a lot of things. He's also the singing voice of Jack Skellington in NBFC.

  • now i could very well be wrong (in which case, please forgive me!) but i really don't think that st. james infirmary is originally a cab calloway song. i think it is just kind of an old "folk" song, in the sense that its originator is unknown. again, i could be wrong. nonetheless, this is an amazing video, and mr. elfman (like always) OWNS.

  • It is an old folk song, but his version of it is very close to the Cab Calloway one, and I always believed that he was covering Cab Calloway rather than just playing the song.

  • Cab Calloway covered it in 1964. "St. James Infirmary Blues" is an American folksong of anonymous origin, like you said. Louis Armstrong made it famous in his influential 1928 recording, though.

  • Just to note:

Calloway had been singing it loooong before 1964. The famous Bettie Boop toon was I believe 1933.

  • Actually he covered it in 1931.

  • Indeed

  • He did Jack Skellington's vocals and he sounds so different

  • Danny Elfman is amazing. So is Cab Calloway.

Danny Elfman singing one of Cab Calloway's songs at a speeded-up tempo?

    Amazing.

  • Danny's without a doubt the very best part of Forbidden Zone (aside from the constantly topless princess).

  • Yes it is what stopped him from performing live :(

A great loss to his fans for sure. At least we can still enjoy his compositions and movie soundtracks. :)

He did one called "Serenada Schizophrana," a formal composition which is lovely!

And if you are in LA/OC, there is a band called "Dead Man's Party" which is a tribute band I have seen lik 7 times and they RAWK! dmplivedotcom check them out!

  • What I want to know is how he managed to learn how to play so many different musical instruments in his lifetime! I love him so much.

  • That is incredible.

    Just brilliant.

  • that's a neat get up he's got going on

  • *sigh

If only Danny did not have tinnitus.....

    oingoboingodotcom

  • Tinnitus?

  • What can this man Not Do? Amazing!

  • I love Danny so much =) =)

  • THANK YOU for posting this @_@

  • MOTHEROFGOD. I love Danny so much I could just...break a window.

  • Thanks a bunch for this. Ever the sexy god. HEY DANNY! Sing for us again!

  • Wow what a great clip thank you for posting this.

  • My goodness! I just had one of those moments where I realized again how brilliant Danny Elfman is. This is great; thanks for posting it.

  • I think this was taped at the Aquarius!! I was just listening to the recording and I think this is it HOT DAMN XD

  • poo, I have the DVD its great! Man I really do adore these peoples talents <3

  • I love the Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo. I love Forbidden Zone. I love Danny Elfman. I love the rock band Oingo Boingo! It's all great.

  • I ordered the DVD but it just wont get here quick enough :( XD Are the pperformances crappy quality?

  • the performances aren't the best of quality - as in DVD. they are rare footage from the early seventies i believe, so the quality is pretty much an old beaten VHS. :X

  • hes so hot

  • Awesome - never seen Mystic Knights stuff other than Forbidden Zone - got some great audio - but this kills

  • This is on the Forbidden Zone DVD?? I need to check my copy again more carefully. I knew the Mystic Knights would perform St James' on occaision live and a performance of it exists in the film Hot Tomorrows, though sadly the craptacular actors keep talking and appearing over the band.

  • yep, if you actually watch through the documentary in the special features there are a couple mystic knights clips - acapella ditty, finale, st. james, and some others i forget at the moment ;)

  • Only at pretty much every show they did! God, seeing this video makes me....happier than I've ever been!

  • Never heard them do this before, thanks.

  • wow, interesting vid...I did know there was a band BEFORE Oingo Boingo...

  • Thanks for hosting this! I always wanted to see the MKotOB live, and I can't get the FZ DvD. D:

  • pretty interesintg. ive never heard of them before really. i know danny elfman though. and cab calloways great of course.
