That effect at 1:15 always reminded me of Full Metal Jacket, during the sniper scene; It sounds exactly like the same effect.

Bravo on the time and effort spent on this vid, especially the time-lapse bit.

hhank you for your kind comments, but I have to be honest here and tell you that I never recorded/filmed any of the footage seen in the video. It is all other peoples work which I copied, cut and editted together to try and match the song.

You can hear a Japanese sound not only in Crush, but also in Enola Gay, Electricity, Secret, and most of all, Tesla Girls.

The chorus is sampled Japanese TV advertisements (liner notes).

Thinking about it now, OMD does sound like it has a Japanese influence--in the same way that you can hear the German music influence in Depeche Mode's music. Martin Gore lived in Berlin for a while, and studied the German electronic music movement. I wonder if OMD did likewise in Japan.
