I have the original album and I just love this song. It was such a great choice for the makers of Hawaii 5-0 to use when Jimmy Buffett took off in the helicopter with Steve's team to go save him from Wo-Fat in Korea. Great show, awesome episode. I love the episodes that give Alex O. the chance to really show off his acting ability, and this one did.
Well, back to the song. Still rocks after all these years.
Anybody else remember seeing the James Gang on the mall in Wash.D.C. early 70's? can't remember exact date, just my cousin, brother, & me were drinking Coors that my cousins parents had brought from Dallas, TX on a visit. That was pre-Smokey & the Bandit when Coors really wasn't available nationwide.
@kyzursozay I was there with a friend - grass seating near the front, hot day, I believe it was 1973. Great sound, but left when an empty wine botle flew past my head.
@slpplexi1969 Well this song happens to be in the same key as "Iron Man"....besides. If it was Iommi liking this band, you'd hear James Gang in Black Sabbath, not vice versa.
@eddythemusicman13 I hear what could have inspired parts of Black Sabbath songs. Stop trying to argue with me about what I hear and listen to the song!
@slpplexi1969 I've listened to the song, and I've listened to it many times. If Iommi liked this band particularity, you would not hear him in the James Gang. You'd hear the James Gang in Black Sabbath.
Regardless, I'm willing to bet you're hearing the key of A with distortion.
@eddythemusicman13 I don't care how many times you have listened to this song, I just want you to stop. I don't listen to Black Sabbath much, I just heard something similar in this song so I thought that maybe this band was an influence to him. I didn't ask you to tell me what I'm hearing. There are lots of song in A with distortion, they all sound different. This song specifically reminds me of Iron Man in some parts. Please don't continue this pointless arguing.
lol i was stoned going to school like a with friends and we get on the bus and over the speaker on the bus shes playing this song it was the greatest bus ride ever.
Sleep all day, out all night I know where you're goin' I don't think that's actin' right You don't think it's showin' Jumpin' up, fallin' down Don't misunderstand me You don't think that I know your plan What you try'n ta hand me? Out all night, sleep all day I know what you're doin' If you're gonna act that way I think there's trouble brewin'
@classictv80 Yes, I hear the same thing. Footloose is a plagiarism of Funk 49. I hope Kenny Loggins acknowledged that he copied Funk 49 consciously or otherwise.
Saw James Gang In Germany with Peter Frampton (he 19 years old) @ army base in Schweinfurt Germany 1970 The Gang was great
