The ten commandments are far deeper than they appear at first glance. They are explained throughout the scriptures in great detail. Honor thy father and mother does not mean that you condone any bad behavior they may exhibit. The commandment is simply establishing the order of family because the family is the foundation of all societies. BTW, rape is a violation of the command against coveting and child abuse is a form of killing. The commandments are actually brilliant in their simplicity.

Slavery in the Bible was very different than the slavery we think of. Back then God laid out very strict rules regarding the protection of slaves. Also slavery was a way to repay a voluntary debt or work for something to be obtained at the end of the servitude. God NEVER condoned the forced capture of an innocent person. There were instances where women and children were prisoners of war because their husbands were killed. There were strict rules regarding their welfare as well.

You fail to understand the consequences of sin. It is not negotiable in God's eyes. Israel was under a Theocracy. God's presence was visible and they had prophets. When a person decided to rebel in that type of environment it was clear that they had no intention of partaking of the grace of God to overcome sin. If you look at the original Hebrew for the word Jerusalem, you will see it means city of peace. Is the Jerusalem on Earth at peace? No we see wars upon wars. But do we see peace in Heaven? Yes.
