@fig79 go to your FL folder and look up a file named "PrefOptions", open it, now, you are looking for the line where it says:

size= 1680, 1050
color_bpp= 32
depth_bpp= 32
this is ofc not what it will look like in your document, but there it is. note that the mod has to support the resolution you prefer, or you will end up having just a zoomed game.
don't bother the other stuff inside that file, you don't want to mess up the game ot get banned from the server for editing ini-files.
@hjulman either you use FL Mod Manager, or you simply turn ON the option in Windows that allow you to see formats like .ini .exe .bin and so on.. and you erase the last part where it says ".flmod" and re-name it to ".zip".
that way you can open it with WinRar or WinZip and extract the files to your freelancer folder.

@Gauzl Yes, you can play it online on about a dozen active servers, the main one being the official 200 slot server. Once you've downloaded FLMM and the mod - Double click the .flmod file, and it should automatically unpack itself into FLMM. After that, open FLMM and double click 'Discovery Freelancer 4.85' to activate it.
@LightningFireFilms I Completely agree with you. However, I made this two years ago when the industry had not been flooded with Video Co-Pilots scores, plug-ins and the like.
The next generation of trailer makers is making the next one and I am discouraging the use of their material, simply because it is much over-used.
If at some point in the future I am invited to do another one. I will be writing my own scores and creating my own special titles in Autodesk Maya.
@jarrus1 Not sure exactly, I think it may have been called something like "Orange Planet". However, you can defiantly find this score in the Pro Scores pack from Video Co-Pilot. It may have come down in price since a few years ago.

@Frozen45Throne The mod creators probably locked certain gates simply because the system has nothing in it, or they are keeping it locked for role playing reasons.
@manlykblaze You will need to have a second installation of Freelancer handy in order to avoid complications. Make sure you read up on how to do it all as mixing mods could get you kicked and band for cheating on either servers.

I have tried to get crossfire on two computers both times failed one of them was on xp the other on win 7. All other mods work on both of those computers
doesnt work for me. when i try to install it says Access to C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Discovery485\DLLS\BIN\content.dll was denied then it says Error:unable to extract a file from mod archive 'Discovery485' File might be corrupt. any help please?
@warthog9879 you have to install it manually, just copy paste it to the mods folder in your freelancer mod manager folder and then extract all the EXE and all that stuff to the game folder. that happened to me too but its because everything in the program files folder need admin permission to move, cut, copy, paste, etc.
@LastchaosvideosTiago I just did that and nothing happend it went in the folder but it wasent on the list to activate the mod, fucking microsoft they make there own game and cant even update it to a newer level! And they fucked up Anvil so theres no Freelancer 2 Spread the word we must keep freelancer alive!!!

first of all you need to buy the game but its lower cost (around 5$?). If you dont want to buy it then lend it from a friend for example or buy it second hand because it does not need any verification code to install.
I'm just curious - since this was my CHIEF complaint with Freelancer - did the ship and weapon re-balancing make all the factions have advantages? I hated how it was balanced like Diablo, so that the Act 1 was CLEARLY inferior to the Act 5 area; does this mod in fact make all the areas comparable so there's a reason to visit locations throughout the universe?

i love the mod been playing it for a while now but can someone tell me where in the game do they sell the big battleships? i dont want to sound like a noob or anything but im just new and wondering
Most of them are in the Guard systems, but believe me when I tell you that a Battleship is nothing but a big floating target. It can fight another battleship or a cruiser, but 2 half-decent bomber pilots will rip it apart.

i seemed to figured it out somehow, the mod worked after reinstalling, probably ENBseries was the problem, so i didnt chose that option and now it works just fine! ;D
best freelancer mod so far. microsoft gave up on this game. and i forgot his name but a player who had been playign this game the same amount of time as me (since it came out) took over and made this mod
for you maybe, but not for me, stupid role play enforcement and such kills all the fun of a 6 hours pvp battle, not to mention mod ships and guns being completly unbalanced, but there is no 100% vanilla server left, 99% maybe :P
If a mod or addon just adds The respective House capships and some Transports well that would be enough for me.
would be better if I could play it, the mod causes freelancer to crash once the splash screen pops up then it goes to the desktop. I've been trying for a wile now to connect to there TS servers but there down and I can't post on the forums to address my problem.

I can't believe I never heard of this game until 2 weeks ago. No problems playing on Windows 7 64-bit. The Discovery mod is awesome and didn't rewrite the whole game, just significantly added on to it.
YES!!! however. you cannot install the mod with FL mod manager. i have vista and 7. you need to copy over all the files from the mod, into freelancer. :)
freelancer discovery is so cool , I have liberty assault battlecruiser, are there any missions cor capships? like gunboats or destroyers instead of fighters, missions with bc are so easy...

@vivek93 That would be correct. It is a great score and fit perfectly. I chopped a few things up here and there, but most of it remained the same.
Unfortunatly, the scores are saturating the industry, making these scores less appealing to me to use.

*Wars between factions are ... just stupid and not keeping the storyline
*Capital ships and transporters are overpowered
*Many server restrictions without a reason (like wich player cannot be attacked in cruiser)
*logic.. i mean... cmon pirate battleships? I don't think pirates or terrorists could construct own capital ships, they rather board and steal one...
But if those things could be correct mod would be awesome...maby

I'm just curious - since this was my CHIEF complaint with Freelancer - did the ship and weapon re-balancing make all the factions have advantages? I hated how it was balanced like Diablo, so that the Act 1 was CLEARLY inferior to the Act 5 area; does this mod in fact make all the areas comparable so there's a reason to visit locations throughout the universe?

@BlazingOwnager That's right, all the factions have advantages, so basically anyone can fight anyone equally. No more reason to fly an Eagle with nomad lasers all the time.

Yes, all the houses have "Mark Two" ships that are balanced to each other, example, the Mk 2 Defender is the Guardian VHF, the Patriot 2 is the Liberator, the Valkyrie 2 is the Wraith, etc. They're still different to each other (Rhienland and Bretonia are Armor/Firepower, Kusari is agility, Liberty is rounded out) But a 1 on 1 between a Guardian and a Wraith is mostly even.

Today I had news. This mod was named in one of biggest European gaming magazine. It is counted as one of the best mods made for a game. :)

i love the mod been playing it for a while now but can someone tell me where in the game do they sell the big battleships? i dont want to sound like a noob or anything but im just new and wondering

Most of them are in the Guard systems, but believe me when I tell you that a Battleship is nothing but a big floating target. It can fight another battleship or a cruiser, but 2 half-decent bomber pilots will rip it apart.

Almost always there is more then 100 folks online, and at peaks, it's always 200/200.

Btw i would like some backup, after i downloaded the newest version, I can't enter the game... I can be in menus and stuff, but as soon I press new game (i play sp) it crashes

i seemed to figured it out somehow, the mod worked after reinstalling, probably ENBseries was the problem, so i didnt chose that option and now it works just fine! ;D

best freelancer mod so far. microsoft gave up on this game. and i forgot his name but a player who had been playign this game the same amount of time as me (since it came out) took over and made this mod

The global Server was shut down, so you will not find any servers in the serverlist. YOu have to use the "DirectConnection"-Tool

i live in Norway and yes i have antivirus NOD32 and Windows Vista.

for you maybe, but not for me, stupid role play enforcement and such kills all the fun of a 6 hours pvp battle, not to mention mod ships and guns being completly unbalanced, but there is no 100% vanilla server left, 99% maybe :P
If a mod or addon just adds The respective House capships and some Transports well that would be enough for me.

would be better if I could play it, the mod causes freelancer to crash once the splash screen pops up then it goes to the desktop. I've been trying for a wile now to connect to there TS servers but there down and I can't post on the forums to address my problem.

I can't believe I never heard of this game until 2 weeks ago. No problems playing on Windows 7 64-bit. The Discovery mod is awesome and didn't rewrite the whole game, just significantly added on to it.

YES!!! however. you cannot install the mod with FL mod manager. i have vista and 7. you need to copy over all the files from the mod, into freelancer. :)

well capships have now shields, but they arent really strong compare to some weapons, 5 good bomber pilots can take out battleship
