They were sooo much more fluid than the ZTA's, and this is coming from a British chick who knows nothing about step and just happened to find this surfing youtube...everyonne got excited because the ZTA's were white AND could step, and although they were good, they just weren't as fluid, my opinion, when I was watching them. They were a little stiff in comparison...we shouldn't lower standards for white people, it's unfair. Kinda like congratulating a black person for being 'articulate'.
@Kogloww When I say fluidity I'm encompassing being 'precise and crisp' and hearing the beat etc. The AKA's did that better. The were more crisp, precise, and in time.The ZTA's were cool, but stiff in comparison. That's just my opinion as someone watching it.I don't claim to be a step expert, but from simply watching it, it's obvious.

Those who hire dance instructors and steppers to teach them should be creative and come up with their own style and moves. It can be done. NPHC groups do it ALL the time. I am a former step mistress of an NPHC sorority.

Our tradition is that the older members usually (prophytes) TEACH the younger members how to step and pass on their organization's and chapter's signature style and steps.The step master/mistress is usually a prophyte from the same chapter or in some cases from another chapter, but always from the same organization. If we watch videos, they are from our chapter or organization. We only do other NPHC groups' steps/moves as a tribute.

@rushnduck Stop being a bigot! There is nothing "hoodrat" as you say about their routine. Stepping is about stepping, not dancing and each NPHC organization has their own signature style and moves. The Zetas routine was nice but not out of the box at all. Actually their steps came from this group and the AKA's initially taught them to step as they admitted. Before you make an ass of yourself, do some research on these groups and the art form which is stepping.

@depeoplesable They lost points for lack of Creativity, the Matrix theme had been done already by TOOO many blacks, their show was not their own nor were the steps nor the stunts. The had a few mistakes. THEY LOST points in three categories according to Sprite's rules. This is why SPRITE had to go back and review the vote, Sprite noticed the error and awarded AKA the win do you have anymore questions?
IT was NO reason to deduct anything from AKA Tau chapter, they made no mistakes, they imitated no one. They did not disrespect the rules, but ZTA did a few times. I am not upset with ZTA , but it was clear the booty rolling was out of regulations, ZTA LOST points for that.
Creativity_ their theme was one of kind, (23 points)
Show Theme_ Their theme was clear and played out well, they had a story line which is what the contest called for, please read the rules and regulations for Sprite (23 points).
Execution_ they were precise, this was a rule of Sprite, read for your self (31 points).
Showmanship_ they were very respectful of the standards of Sprite, AKA and respectful of other Greeks (23 points), clear win.

Did not deserve to win?' that is your opinion, most people in the audience would not agree. AKAs were amazing because they did not have to rob other Greeks for a win. he whole controversy stems from two issues---Sprite's decision to use the Divine Nine in its advertisements (why NOT use any other organizations?) and Sprite's decision not to use EXPERIENCED steppers as judges. Members of the D9 felt exploited, and many felt the the voting was rigged. Thus, the several instances of 'discrepancies' in scoring throughout the competitions. :/ RACE has NOTHING to do with this.

Those who hire dance instructors and steppers to teach them should be creative and come up with their own style and moves. It can be done. NPHC groups do it ALL the time. I am a former step mistress of an NPHC sorority.

@mrstexas777 No one is hired among the NPHC groups. Our tradition is that the older members usually (prophytes) TEACH the younger members how to step and pass on their organization's and chapter's signature style and steps.The step master/mistress is usually a prophyte from the same chapter or in some cases from another chapter, but always from the same organization. If we watch videos, they are from our chapter or organization. We only do other NPHC groups' steps/moves as a tribute.

Lose some "Hood Rat" attitude and get Team attitude.. I find your ourfits BORING as well as your "Technical" routine. Learns some DANCE steps and entertain the crowd. Quit selling yourselves short. I think you should do better than "Stereotyping" your routine. That is what got Zeta past you in Houston. Flash outfits, and "Outside" the box routine

@rushnduck Stop being a bigot! There is nothing "hoodrat" as you say about their routine. Stepping is about stepping, not dancing and each NPHC organization has their own signature style and moves. The Zetas routine was nice but not out of the box at all. Actually their steps came from this group and the AKA's initially taught them to step as they admitted. Before you make an ass of yourself, do some research on these groups and the art form which is stepping.

@depeoplesable They lost points for lack of Creativity, the Matrix theme had been done already by TOOO many blacks, their show was not their own nor were the steps nor the stunts. The had a few mistakes. THEY LOST points in three categories according to Sprite's rules. This is why SPRITE had to go back and review the vote, Sprite noticed the error and awarded AKA the win do you have anymore questions?

IT was NO reason to deduct anything from AKA Tau chapter, they made no mistakes, they imitated no one. They did not disrespect the rules, but ZTA did a few times. I am not upset with ZTA , but it was clear the booty rolling was out of regulations, ZTA LOST points for that.

Show Theme_ Their theme was clear and played out well, they had a story line which is what the contest called for, please read the rules and regulations for Sprite (23 points).
Execution_ they were precise, this was a rule of Sprite, read for your self (31 points).
Showmanship_ they were very respectful of the standards of Sprite, AKA and respectful of other Greeks (23 points), clear win.

he whole controversy stems from two issues---Sprite's decision to use the Divine Nine in its advertisements (why NOT use any other organizations?) and Sprite's decision not to use EXPERIENCED steppers as judges. Members of the D9 felt exploited, and many felt the the voting was rigged. Thus, the several instances of 'discrepancies' in scoring throughout the competitions. :/ RACE has NOTHING to do with this.
