@basti07fantasti Hey, yeah sure you can say that. The music from Gladiator, especially 'The Battle', is fantastic, and definitely some of my favourite music. But I was just experimenting and I guess it seemed too obvious to use the music from the film, I thought I'd try using different music. (Cue comments on how 'Requiem for a Dream' is overused.)

Who the hell has so much time on their hands that they decide to use it by putting a collection of pictures together from a well known film, adding background music and home made subtitles after quotes from said film and then displaying it for the world to see on You bleedin' Tube!!!

My life is no better & no worse for seeing this, it's almost like it never happened.

88Jack88: I loved your interpretation! Most people are so used to Zimmer's (wonderful) original track so they aren't that open to other music. "Requiem.." is soul stirring and fits well.

And Spain was a Roman Provence and this is a fictional story using a small slice of history to as a back-drop.

Maximus was Roman and in truth had no reason TO see Rome. He was fighting all the time and on his "down-time" went home to his family. A fine film about a noble warrior~

"Requiem For A Dream" is way too common and overused. It only fits Lord of the Rings and possibly extremely similar movies such as King Arthur.

It really doesn't fit with Gladiator. It would have been better to use the Gladiator soundtrack. For example, "The Battle" is an excellent track and would have fit.

Well of course 'The Battle' would have fit better, it's from the soundtrack of the film, and incidentally is one of my favourite pieces of music. If you look at the video details, this is almost 3 years old, and back then this music wasn't used nearly as much, or i wouldn't have used it. As for it not fitting, it was just an experiment, you never know until you try.

Not really. He was born in Trujillo (Spain). In those ages, Hispania (Spain) was part of the Roman Empire and Hispanos (Spaniards) were Romans citizens like any other inside the empire. It has nothing to do with horses but maybe he loved Spanish horses because they were from his homeland :)

I agree... I don`t remember the movie, but roman generals was given a land from the emperors in reward for fighting in the roman army. I guess, Maximus was given a land in Spain, which was Emire teritory in those days ( Hispania )... Probably that`s why he was called Spaniard, but actually he was Roman - in the meaning of Roman Empire, not the city...
