Now I can understand people of a diffirent race better and this allows me to communication with them on a diffirent level. I think the more that we can understand how white people think, the better we will be to understanding them and their kind.
@gundamWWW You need to be careful not to assume that the cultural observations made by one man are structural rules that help illuminate how a particular race or culture 'thinks'. Indeed, while a part of what defines a culture are the identifiable commonalities of mindset, outlook and behavior which its constituents display, and which informs the customs and peculiarities of that culture, it is important not to view culture as more powerful than human agency.
@thetexandub In short, no one can understand 'how white people think', because a culture is a grouping of commonalities, not of predictable patterns - 'white people' as a group do not think in a specific way or pattern about anything. As with every culture there is a vast diversity of political opinion and ideology, religion, and personal attitudes on a micro-cultural level which will inform the way an individual within the larger grouping of 'white people' thinks.
@thetexandub Furthermore, I doubt a white socialist and a white conservative would have the same views on unpaid internships. Judging by this video what this man is identifying is not 'things that white people like' but constituent elements of the dominant white-middle class-socio-economic power structure.
@gundamWWW I definately see why you say my commentary was unnecessarily complicated, but I think it's important to tackle the root of cultural misconceptions, and if that means engaging my limited understanding of post-structuralism then so be it :)
As for your attendance at a tea party rally, that sounds like an excellent strategy that could lead to much hilarity =P, I wish you the best of luck.
She overcomplicates even the most simplest messages (even regarding video games) and she's an Liberal Arts major in university, philosophy and that kind of intellectual theorectical stuff.
I really enjoy his sense of humor, and I'm proud to say I'm the "wrong kind of white." But even as the "wrong kind of white," I still agree with a lot of his lists (not all of them, of course), and I can appreciate the irony.
Because flip flops are not a cultural icon to the kind of white people he is referring too who typically eschew flips flops in favor of New Balance shoes.

Thank you for your polite but unnecessarily complicated commentary.
I actually plan on attending a Tea Party rally to see how (some) White People behave in political demonstrations.
I plan to gain their trust by offering them alcoholic beverages and pornographic magazines.
This strategy will be most effective.

Right on! I love his blog, "Stuff White People Like." And as a white person, I think "love" is really going beyond the call of duty there.
