the one and only bernard cribbins. now this is a guy i would love to meet and shake his hand. he's one of the few remaining old troupers of his generation. i love both this record and ''right said fred'',they bring back memories of more innocent times. bernie played a great part in 'fawlty towers' as the wrongly identified hotel inspector. may you be around for many many years bernie . you are a real star..
The records did well in the pop charts, and were often radio requests. The top ten charts featured so much more variety back then. Monologues, rock and roll, broadway musicals and classical at times
I just picked the first pic I could of a "man in a bowler hat" ....it just happen to be John Cleese.... and he kinda looks "grand and offical" in that pic
Another one of Bernard Cribbins' claim to fame was as the station master in the Railway Children. He was actually very prolific in the 60's but seems to have faded into obscurity somewhat now.
great stuff - my dad can sing it word perfect, is bernard cribbins still alive and does anyone know what childrens television programme(s) he narrated?
yes sorry that i didn't make myself clear on the branch thing... and as for the man in the bowler hat i thought that if ever there was a proper vid to this song John Cleese would have fitted the part...lol
This is the first vinyl that I bought, sad life isn't it.

Bernard Cribbins is a legend! Check him out in the new Doctor Who as Donna Noble's ol' grandad. Break your heart he's so luvvable!

I hear fans of the show want ol' B.C. as the new companion

I always saw the man in the bowler as more Richard Stinker Murdoch than John Cleese.

Obscure apart from his recurring role in Dr Who, one of the primetime shows on BBC at the moment

Yeah I know mate, forgot about that at the time. Not really much of a fan of the new Doctor Who, sorry.

Bernard Cribbins was in Dangerous Davies the last detective, in the 80's. Peter Davidson reprised the role a few years ago.
Great song, trying to find the chords, so I can play it on the ukulele.

as for "Fawty Towers" the only epiode I can remmember was when he beat up his car with a branch... that was funny
Pinkletoony 3 years ago
The guy beating his car with a branch was John Cleese. Bernard Cribbens was never in Fawlty Towers as far as I can remember. LoL

Topchick1969 3 years ago 3
Long before Peter Davison and the tv series, Bernard Cribbins was in a fairly dark version of Dangerous Davies - The Last Detective.
