Beatiful!!! I am from Argentina, we heve hiller uh12 soloy, and they have Allison 250 C20B, the best turbine in the world!!! I am sorry for my english, grettings from Argentina!
That is one of the most beautiful man made noises one can hear. Simply amazing. The engineering that went into development of the turbine is fascinating!
Nothing worst than to do a maintenance operational check (MOC) and have your head next to the engine during start, and have fuel spray all over your face because of a fuel line not properly torqued !!! Or, have an oil pressure reducer installed backwards and have oil all over the engine deck !!! I had a mechanic notorious for this !!!
Just asking because I had a twinstar which would compressor stall when the no. 2 engine would start. I'm an AME by the way. I did a bunch of troubleshooting and I was told it was just a characteristic if the airframe config.
Nothing sounds sweeter than an Allison turbine firing up on a helicopter such as the Bell 206Blll or a 206L4. The sound and smell of jet fuel (aka, kerosene) being ignited is something one will never forget. (although a few of my friends say the smell of dirty jocks in a locker room will compete with it)

Tick tick tick booooooo, sweet! Ever have the right hand engine compressor stall on start?
pburkeame 2 years ago 6
No, the C20 engine has a special bleed valve, the engine shouldn't stall on start up unless this valve is faulty and may be stuck shut after a run.
