  • i want to go and visit the Awahnee Hotel in Yelllowstone everytime i watch this movie.

  • That is brilliant. Such detail.

  • Whoa...is this real? What a helluva re-creation of every little aspect of that movie for just a teeny little commercial. Brilliant!!!

  • awesome

  • that was VERY cool

they even had the bear that gave BJ's in there

  • @drdistracto707

    HaHa!

  • Was this mad ein 1980? I mean the commercial was pretty cool, but I doubt Kubrick would have excepted it.

  • No, the trailer was made bout 2 years ago for a Stanley Kubrick season on More 4. They showed a load of his films, including The Shining... (my personal favourite film, even though I haven't seen all of his films)

    It's just been re-created. I personally think it's brilliant. :-)

  • Yeah, this is a much more detailed and complex trailer than usual. Did they make more of these? from like other Kubrick films?

  • Not that I know of .. :'(

I want the carpet (the hexagon pattern) in my bedroom - my mum hates it haha.

  • Good old Channel Four. The best of British (yet again).

  • The big K would give this one the BIG thumbs up, I think. He actually was known to admire commercials.

  • It's so authentic, this trailer.

I want that 'Shining carpet' in my room haha, my mum's having none of it lmao!

  • Awesome. The only that's off is the aspect ratio, which seems wider than what Kubrick preferred.

  • Yeah, I agree, Kubrick would have used 1:66:! or 1.33:1, but 1.78:1/1.85:1 is the normal now, this video it about 2.07:1, a very odd ratio in my opinion, the the original video was squashed, I fixed it before uploading too hehe.

    I love this video, though..

  • This is too awesome!

  • Faithful down to every detail. And the music is just enough to give you the suspense. Thumbs up.

  • I wish I could have seen this trailer being filmed. :)

  • Trully Kubrick worthy

  • This promo is done using that classic Kubrick tracking shot which I love.

  • Yeah, that's what I like about it as well. The Steadicam in this promotional trailer is just pure legendary.

And something that I found out a long time ago now:

The guy that invented the Steadicam, was the Steadicam operator on The Shining back in the day :) Garrett Brown is the genius behind this amazing piece of apparatus.

    Thanks for commenting!

  • Who ever made this was a master as well. Stanley Kubrick is looking down giving a good ol thumbs up.

  • It is totally awesome, isn't it... :)

  • AWESOME! Need I say more?

  • This is mind-bogglingly AWESOME!!! It's so authentic that I at first thought it was from his daughter's documentary. But then I realized that the camera work was too smooth to be from that doc.

  • That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AWSOME! GREAT JOB! OH THIS IS THE BEST COMMERCIAL EVER!

  • Brilliant!

  • W Garrett Brown!

  • THANKS for posting. When I first saw this promo on TV I nearly jumped out of my seat. It's so brilliantly done. Meticulously researched, it looks like it could have come from Kubrick's daughter's documentary.

The guy behind this should be up for some award. Probably the best promo I've ever seen!

  • I totally agree. They should build the whole set and make another mini-series -- or is that TOO wishful??

    Thanks for commenting!!

  • Very very cool (I'd call this the "Free as a Bird" of Shining.)
