Well intentioned, but when the director of this work - the film we're watching, not Gergiev - resorts to the one- and two-second shots of various things, it descends right into the garbage can of American Television, which is designed for children.
exactly from 1.20 to 2.09 the background music i don't think that it's petruska. :) I listened petruska and it wasn't like this. :) What's this background music???????? :D
yeah, his life may be music, but he does NOTHING in the end. The great orchestral players do all the work and he just leads them here and there. Most conductors abuse their leadership. I believe there should be an orchestra that rotates its conductors every concert, and the players become the conductors.
I'd love to be a conductor, but I doubt that I'd have enough lip balm for all of the cock-sucking I'd have to do in the classical world, unfortunately.
Only kidding. I don't have the enthusiasm to really pursue it as a career, although I find it a very fascinating line of work. Part of next year's course in what I'm doing involves scoring string quartets and stuff - I'll be buggered if I don't do a bit of conducting while I'm at it! Ha ha.
@BarryDennen12 Okay, sorry, didn't want to be rude. Just such a waste if people don't exploit their talents and let themselves be discouraged even before trying....
No that's totally fine! I have a bit of a bad habit of posting deadpan comments which seem far more serious than they are.
I love music, but I figure I'd be better off sticking to the playing of it as opposed to taking up another part of it; especially in a discipline so far removed from the crap I get up to. Still, life is long - I'd love to learn more about it one day.
AWESOME CONDUCTOR at both the MET and Carnegie Hall where I saw him several times.

You cannot have a conducting video when the audio and video is out-of-sync. Why bother?

The disconnect between the audio and video is infuriating, but this is a cool video otherwise.

0:00-0:15 is from the very beginning of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring as well.

Rite of Spring
lordgoodwinson 1 year ago
@Goobz007 0:15-0:40 and onwards is mostly from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. 2:22-2:33 is the very end of Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 3.

Gergiev said : "As a pianist you are used to look at TWO lines, then suddenly (as a conductor I guess) you have to look at 13 lines...."
Sorry, but you are so wrong. Actually, right now I can not remember the piano piece with only two linens trough whole work...
