  • AWESOME CONDUCTOR at both the MET and Carnegie Hall where I saw him several times.

    Barb Todres/NYC

  • You cannot have a conducting video when the audio and video is out-of-sync. Why bother?

  • RITE OF SPRING

  • amazing

  • he is absolutley awsome!!

  • the best

  • rite of springggggggg

  • I can't help but notice his remarkable resemblance to Jack Nicholson. Even the hair and smile!

  • Well intentioned, but when the director of this work - the film we're watching, not Gergiev - resorts to the one- and two-second shots of various things, it descends right into the garbage can of American Television, which is designed for children.

  • excuse me what is the music at the minute 1.22????

  • @XleoYZ i think that was from "Petruska",a Stravinsky's Opera Ballet :)

  • @XleoYZ Its not Petroushka, its the Russian Easter Overture from Rimsky-Korsakow

  • Genious from Ossetia!

  • He is a modern music genious, really admirable!

  • The disconnect between the audio and video is infuriating, but this is a cool video otherwise.

  • Please check out my Glinka performance! Thanks for posting this great video. Gergiev is the best!

  • I am also going to the BBC next 15th of August. I got a ticket!!!.

  • I am going to see him at the BBC Proms on the 15th August and I can't wait!

  • The best conductor ever, at least, from my point of view! Bravo!

  • Admirable man of power and passion. True to music and self. We could not start without you! Vcevo khoroshevo!

  • 0:00-0:15 is from the very beginning of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring as well.

  • yeah, his life may be music, but he does NOTHING in the end. The great orchestral players do all the work and he just leads them here and there. Most conductors abuse their leadership. I believe there should be an orchestra that rotates its conductors every concert, and the players become the conductors.

  • @organboi you Mean Vienna Phil ?

  • What's the piece at 0:40?

  • @Goobz007

    Rite of Spring

  • @Goobz007 0:15-0:40 and onwards is mostly from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. 2:22-2:33 is the very end of Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 3.

  • @tchykovsky My late but sincere thanks for informing me.

  • Gergiev said : "As a pianist you are used to look at TWO lines, then suddenly (as a conductor I guess) you have to look at 13 lines...."

Sorry, but you are so wrong. Actually, right now I can not remember the piano piece with only two linens trough whole work...

  • @BoristheONEandonly

He means staves. Is that better?

  • He´s the conductor of the moment: thrilling, charismatic, energetic and politically hyper-powerful

  • I'd love to be a conductor, but I doubt that I'd have enough lip balm for all of the cock-sucking I'd have to do in the classical world, unfortunately.

  • @BarryDennen12 Or you can just try it and not let yourself choke on your cynicism on beforehand.

  • Only kidding. I don't have the enthusiasm to really pursue it as a career, although I find it a very fascinating line of work. Part of next year's course in what I'm doing involves scoring string quartets and stuff - I'll be buggered if I don't do a bit of conducting while I'm at it! Ha ha.

  • @BarryDennen12 Okay, sorry, didn't want to be rude. Just such a waste if people don't exploit their talents and let themselves be discouraged even before trying....

  • No that's totally fine! I have a bit of a bad habit of posting deadpan comments which seem far more serious than they are.

I love music, but I figure I'd be better off sticking to the playing of it as opposed to taking up another part of it; especially in a discipline so far removed from the crap I get up to. Still, life is long - I'd love to learn more about it one day.

  • @BarryDennen12 As a conductor, I HAD to react :-) Good luck on your endeavors!

  • @BarryDennen12 Great comment. My sentiments exactly. Someday the conductor will be obsolete. You watch.

  • What music sounds at 1:45?

  • @Josep489 That's by Rimsky Korsakov: Russian Easter Festival Overture

  • @Josep489 "Bright fest", ouverture by Rimsky-Korsakov

  • Gergiev is amazing! He is a true sincere hero of all ages

  • What's the title of peace of 15 seconds ???

  • @valen7i7a stravinsky - the rite of spring

  • @yesthebrucedickinson Thank a lot ;)

  • his name is Gergiev. Valery Gergiev.

  • The finishing phrase is awesome.
