OK here's the thing. I'm Japanese American but I've never really felt sincerity about Japan's stance on foreign policy. I understand that they're allies with the U.S., but did their government have the courage like the rest of the world to go against Bush regarding Iraq? It seems to me, that Japanese citizens just like to jump on a popular Western bandwagon, and now Obama just happens to be quite fashionable (yes, I'm voting for him, but I also know his policies, I'm not blind).
I can only think that the government felt pressure from it's US allies to send troops to Iraq. 90% of Japanese polled said they didn't like it or that it was a bad idea. There was even a skirmish in Japanese parliament when the bill came through (one woman jumped over a table to grab the document). Regardless it was a violation of their constitution.
You're taking him out of context, besides we need to get over this some day, both sides. Not long from now everyone old enough to remember WW2 will have passed on. Those people have a right to be angry & upset, but once they're gone they should take the negative emotions of the time with them. Bitterness should not be passed on through the generations, nor should it be kept brewing on the stove for over 60 years either.
Furthermore I think we could improve our relationship with Japan, starting with removing US military presence there, and following the Kyoto protocol. However none of that will happen under George Bush or in fact any Republican if I may say so.
He's a fantastic actor, see Michael Clayton, Three Kings, The Peacemaker, Oceans 11, Solaris to name a few. The man is pure class and very good looking too
the most electable candidate in a general election was edwards. I think now its hillary b/c I heard of a lot of republican woman including an coulter will vote 4 hillary.
lol clooney likes obama because hes a nice guy! hes charismatic! oh joy! because thats what we need for a president right? a rock star and not someone who knows what there fucking do.
Apart from that, he's immensely smart, a natural leader, honest, hardworking, authentic, 20 years of public service, has outdone, outsmarted the most effective political machine in US history (the clintons) and to top it off he can deliver a speech that even republicans feel identified with... what else do you want?
I want him to explain himself on all his issues. He makes all these promises but doesn't go into detail on whos going to pay for them. Money has to come from somewhere. Obama seems like a nice guy and he is a great public speaker but I feel like he has no substance. Every speech feels like all shine and no substance.

Sounds like George is in love, how sweet but Obama is a member of the notorious CFR which promotes a one world government as it's ultimate aim. Democrats also voted for the war and lets not forget the terrorist sponsoring, war mongering Clinton administration which also massacred 80 innocent adults and children in Waco. It is the partisanship that justifies facism when the party does it that is the problem in the US.
Yeah, I'm definitely with George Clooney on how the Iraq war was just a huge waste of time, and quixoto has a point also. Anyway, George Clooney is a respectable person.
The political umbarge of circular debate on both sides of the aisle do not help our troops or innocent civilians which are casualties of this war. Liberal or conservative-- no matter-- accusations do not serve truth. George Clooney fan who is disappointed by his narrow-minded viewpoint. Since we are limited... my full opinion cannot be contained herein... hence full story will not be told. Maybe that's the problem with politics and press in general.
I can't resist his hotness... OMG

Since Obama has just followed along with Bush's policies in Afghanistan and Iraq, I wonder how Clooney feels about him now.

i understand how it might seem that way, but if you have matured beyond it you acknowledge parts of your country's history.
not just the good.
America and slavery ring a bell? (and yes other places had/have slavery as well)
point is: he was making a spot on analogy, and that reporter would have to be very ethnocentric to take offense.

if you truly love America you should decide for yourself who is the right candidate. don't let some dumb shit celebrity tell you who to vote for.

True say, & I'll ad that since my original post I have woken up to the Ron Paul message..

This is NOT a vote about GENDER.
This is NOT a vote about RACE.
This IS a vote on the MOST electable candidate in a GENERAL ELECTION.
Our country does not need nor want another scandalous election, but I GUARANTEE you that Republicans WILL dredge out everything they can.
Think about it.
Opponents WANT Hillary because they can COUNTER her easily in a general election.
Let's put our BEST candidate forward.
Let's get it RIGHT this time.
If you LOVE the USA, VOTE FOR OBAMA!

That was a really stupid comment on George Clooney's part. He's IN Japan talking to a Japanese person.
He's always struck me as an arrogant 'thinks he's gods gift to women' jerk.
