I can only speak to what is supposedly shown on this film. Most of the "men" portrayed in this film were frauds. In some cases the names of real vets were used by imposters. Almost all of the men in this film refused to repeat their claims under oath, or execute a sworn affadavit. Why? Some of the film makers actually worked with the communist government of North Vietnam durring the war. Again did atrocities happen? Yes. Were those atrocities as widespread, or commonplace as depicted here? No!

Many of the so-called "vets"in this film have been proven to be frauds. Some never served in the military at all. Some were in the military but never set foot in Vietnam. He was actually a sergeant in the Air Force. The Air Force has no record of him ever being in Vietnam, and sergeants don't fly fighter aircraft. He Lied!

I can only speak to what is supposedly shown on this film. Most of the "men" portrayed in this film were frauds. In some cases the names of real vets were used by imposters. Almost all of the men in this film refused to repeat their claims under oath, or execute a sworn affadavit. Why? Some of the film makers actually worked with the communist government of North Vietnam durring the war. Again did atrocities happen? Yes. Were those atrocities as widespread, or commonplace as depicted here? No!

I agree generally with what you say here. being in any army leaves its mark and, frankly, some of those guys just do not come over as being ex soldiers.
Atrocities against civilians is a common thread in any war and no army is innocent of this. Vietnam was only different because it was the first war where reporters were largely independent.
Thousands of decent young Americans died out there and the rapists and murderers pissed on their memory.

What's exceptional about these soldiers is not that they raped women and children -soldiers in all armies do that when the going gets bad enough- what's exceptional is that they stood up and said anything about it, that they told the truth when no one was demanding it.

One thing that is similar about many, if not all of these accounts is that there is never any proof offered. Photographs? Not one. Corroborative testimony from reliable witnesses of specific events? Not one example. Video/audio of these long/haired, lying, walking dishonors to their country being cross-examined by skilled interrogators revealing what liars they are? They wouldn't allow themselves to be questioned to confirm the veracity of their "stories".

Perhaps you should read my comment again. Many of these "witnesses" have already been discredited. John Forbes Kerry for one, whose military records proved he was nowhere near Cambodia when he claimed. The astonishing lack of proof and implausible, contradictory nature of their stories betrays them.

John Forbes Kerry testified at the winter soldier hearing, and was soundly discredited. This is public record and easily verifiable. Rape is never justified. All I'm saying is, if you're going to throw around such a serious accusation (rape, murder, etc.) you must have proof because of the damage you can do to someone's reputation, like our honorable fighting men and women. Some of these are death penalty crimes.
