  • I like theremin but this wasn't anything like theremin, and to be honest

it's most likely damaging on both your Wii and people's hearing.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmax msp!

  • pacman and R2D2 having some wild sex :O

  • doesn't sound like a theremin at all

  • wow. cool.

i bet you got bored of that after 5 minutes.

  • wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?

    too late.

  • ive been digitally raped

  • This proves NOTHING apart from the fact an antenna is inside the Wii remote.

    Big deal? I think not.

  • @Mant2core umm, no. It proves that the wii remote's motion sensor's x, y, and z axises can be tied to a music game. Interesting use, and it gives me an idea. . .

  • that destroyed my ears

  • a ghost in my head!!!!

    ahhh

    oh wait

    its the video

    uff

  • This shows that the Wii remote actually is sensitive, as it is, and that developers on the Wii just suck at life.

  • Most Wii games are basically all clones of each other anyway.

  • BECAUSE the developers suck. My sole point was that the Wii remote actually is a decent piece of hardware--a piece of hardware that DOES NOT need the Wii Motion Plus add-on. This video proves it.

  • the hardware itself like the proccessor ram and gpu are equivalent to a mid ranged gaming pc from 2001, not exaclty what I would call decent

  • @Awesomo4003

But is has a much more powerful shader pipeline than any 2001 PC. Also unlike your silly PC's the wii's OS is very minimal unlike windows and does not use much ram. Often people compare specs by gHz or ram. This is a bad way to compare specs because the most important thing about CPUs and GPUs is how efficiently they can use transistors and how small the chip fabrication process is. Architecture and chip construction is by far the most important aspect of a processor.

  • @KokoroTheDragon Well when you compare the average graphics and resolution of a wii game I would consider them comparable to that of a 2001 pc. Sure some games take advantage of the shaders like Mario galaxy but realistically the same can't be said for most wii games.

  • Yeah I'm not disputing Wii hardware, although I do believe that if they integrated motion plus from the start, more things would be *possible*.

Although as we have learned, there are a lot of developers on the Wii who want to make a cheap buck and what's an easier way than recycling an old idea and turning it into a Wii game.

  • "if they integrated motion plus from the start, more things would be *possible*."

Amen. Wii Motion Plus should have been built inside the Wii Remote starting November 2006.

  • Are you the author of the software?

  • aaaarggghhhhmy ears :P

  • Err... No!

  • This reminds me of 80's sci-fi SPESIAL EFFEKTZ

    lol.

  • Thats R2D2 from Star Wars =)

  • After hearing this, all I can think of is the movie Scanners...

  • retro scifi!

  • PAC-MAN IT SOUNDS LIKE LOL

  • Tr0.0 xD

  • LMFAO

  • around the 0:30-0:40 area reminded me of a video game o.o

  • YOU EAT MY BRAINN!!11

  • MY BRAINS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • blue light is NOT on untill the 2nd update somewehere middle 06, look at the Date of this video.. its not fake

  • The Blue led on remote is off so controler is not aktiv

  • just cause he didnt make the program activate a friggin led doesnt mean shit, dumbfuck

  • and while you're learning about electronics, learn to spell correctly too.

  • beautifull!

  • What fuckin' program was that? And it did sound like a creepy puppet show.

  • Max/msp

  • Wheres the little blue light?!?!?!

  • looks like someone found the diagnostics system lol....maybe?

  • its like life support

  • i'd be worried if my life support machine was also a wii remote

  • god i hate that sound at the end but that wuz kool

  • It sort of looks like you're doing a really crappy puppet show.

  • How dare you refer to the Clangers as a 'crappy puppet show! Philistine :-)

  • Sounds like Stockhausen! I like it! :D

  • Impressive programming (well it is for me, who knows nothing, that may be very simple) but I don't think I'll let you in my band :-)

  • It sounds like you're doing inappropriate things to R2D2, and I'm not sure he likes it!

  • LMAO

  • mouahahahaha

  • @daichi2097 i dont like [it] either!

  • Ok, that was weird O_o

  • looked funny on 0:36 and forward :D

  • stop shaking your wii-ner LOL

  • Lol. I don't know why people gave you a thumbs down on that.

  • Yeah! The Wii-ner joke was good! Crap, but in a good way. I think the hidden "too many thumbs down" comments end up getting read the most anyway.

  • just set:

"Show: poor (-10 or better)" on and vote him up! :D i did it

  • I feel like I'm waiting line for Space Mountain.

  • a theremin sounds great but this sounds more like StarTrek :D

  • does any one have the url if so plz reply with it thx

  • You would need a second remote to play a "real" theremin. You can only play different tones with that, but you cant switch from one tone to an other without hearing the tones inbetween.

With a second remove, which can change the volume I think you could play a theremin on the Wii, which doesn't just sound like a robot or something.

  • outer space

  • and the point and purpose of this is????

  • to have fun!

  • to annoy the fuck out of people.

  • A theramin is a musical instrument... that was supposed to be a proximity detecter.

  • this is hella cool

  • Hm, Id be nice to see what you could do playing with that instrument. Right now, this is like jumping on a piano or bashing on a guitar.

  • very good for who is playing, extremely bad for other that are hearing

  • Reminds me of R2D2..

  • sounds like a video game o.0

  • it's a videogame

  • are they on a site that they do it on?

  • LOL!! Pacman flatlines! oh no!

  • This just goes to show what would happen to pac-man if he got addicted to crack...and died...

  • I'm mighty tighty whitey and I'm smugglin' plums

  • Lol!

  • rip pac-man!

  • HE FLAT LINED!!!

  • "this trumpet is flat-lining!"

    aah, MST...

  • nifty! now, can you actually apply it in some musical way?

  • It just looks like your whacking off the remote.

  • I think Pac-Man just died a hundred times.

  • I'd agree with that comment

  • fucking chiptune theremin, teach me please

  • wtf is this shit?

    a maelstrom or somethin

    cool stuff anyway

  • ummm ok!

  • noo

  • Reminds me of my old Coleco Vision

  • ARGH MY EARS...cool though :D

but srsly...I had my headphones on and this just REALLY REALLY HURT my ears

  • That's wicked awesome!! Never thought you could do something like that! Sound's like some sort of alien control panel. XD

  • lol, at the end it sounds like an EKG when somebody's flatlining.

  • I would so buy that...

  • lol

  • lol

  • lol crazy

  • Alien music!

  • Lmfao.

  • I'd play it.

  • now with new song pack!HALO 3:THE THERE-MAN.

  • THEREMIN-way to Heaven!

  • thats class xD

  • To most of the posters here, think ahead instead of being stuck with "now"... What the creator of this program has done is something amazing. not becuase of what it is but of what it can become if you just develop it a slight bit further. A load of amazing music programs and whatsoever could come out of this with a little work on. So big thumbs up to the creator of this nifty program =)

And besides, its an awesome display of what the wiimote is capable of.

  • how did you do that?

  • You have heard of Wii Sports and Wii Play. Wii Fit is just about to come to the market.

For q4 of 2008, we're considering the launching of our new product: Wii InstrumentPak, including all your new-age instruments, including, of course, the theremin.

  • thats really annoying

  • its like pac man if your on acid o.O

  • Aliens!!! *spazs out*

  • neat... but needs much work to be actually considered as useful

  • ROFL XD

  • Don't be so harsh.

This guy built a really neat instrument, although I wouldn't exactly call it a theremin.

The problem is just that he sucks at playing it.

  • cool patch...but thats the worst theremin imitation ive ever heard.

  • that sounds horrible xD

  • R2D2 taking a dump !!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! XD

  • hahahahhaahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa thats funny

  • yeah.....how hard was it to mod that thing

  • What is that?I want to sue that on my wii

  • More "R2D2 having a seizure" than "theremin".

  • LMFAO nice one

  • ha ha hah

  • just silly !

  • not a theremin.

  • thats pritty nice, might need to tune to so its not so sensitive :P

  • you idiot he modded it stupid its kinda in the description

  • ummm wtf is is broken?? lol

  • You are an idiot.

  • What's interesting is it sounds nothing like a theremin...what it DOES sound like is electromagnetic interference. Kinda pointless video, but at least it was entertaining the first time around.

  • i thought 23-27 sounded way cool

  • WTF?

  • Could produce "On The Run" ;D

  • anyway, this is a good start!

  • I see two problems here:

    - the amplitude is missing, very importend for expresive playing.

    - a digital sine wave is almost always terrible for your ears, except when it's used very wisly (as in 'atoms for peace' from thom york for example)

an analoge sine wave such as the original theramin can produce has natural irregularities wich make the sound rich, much better for your ears. To get something good out a digital system you have to make the sound rich yourself.

  • can i get the program somewhere??

  • Exactly

    Three diffrent pitches.

    Three motion sensors.

    One device.

This is the one to manipulate three theremins at the same time. It is difficult.

  • It seems there are three or four diffrent pitches. That's so tight.

  • dude what is this that's awful

  • hopefully theremin sounds better than this

  • You could probably do the same thing with the macbook itself... it has internal sensors that can determine its, pitch, roll, etc.

  • nice stuff... is the patch available to download anywhere?

  • Man, my ears! How can you listen to this and don't care about the pitch of the sound waves from that program?! >.<

  • max/msp and jitter

  • bull!! :) how??
