If by scientific method you mean observable repeatable patterns then you are absolutely correct. But you are referring to empirical science and not forensic science. Forensic science looks at unrepeatable events and draws necessary conclusions. Example, the origin of the universe. Certainly not an observable and repeatable event or pattern. Does that mean it doesn't exist? Many things cannot be "proved" by scientific method; only the physical can be proved that way.

Science only deals with the physical, not the metaphysical. Example, we know that the universe had an origin. First, we know this because the universe is an evffect and all effects must have a cause. Basic physics. Second we know because as light expands it moves into the red spectrum. This is called redshifting. Again, basics physics. But science cannot speak to the first cause which itself must be uncaused. There cannot be infinite regression. This is metaphysics.
