This is country folk music as distinct from city folk. Then there is also world folk music from different countries as well as traditional ballads, folk-rock, etc. In other words, there are different types of folk music. One thing is certain: it ain't Lauri-Volpi! Thanks, Edmund.
There is almost no music I don't like. I consume music the say way some people consume air and water. Always have. I heard Mac Wiseman sing for the first time some 55 years ago, and I was an instant fan. The first time I heard Kurt Baum, or Jan Peerce, or Roberta Peters, I was a fan. First Caruso record, I was a fan. Ditto Bob Dylan. It goes on and on. Can you imagine the world without music. I can't. There is something as essential as food about music.
@EdmundStAustell Wiseman reminds us what true American folk-music is, as opposed to the "urban" synthetic folk-music we mostly get to hear nowadays. I wholeheartedly agree about what you said. My parents told me I could sing long before I could talk, if that's not instinct I don't know what is. Any music is good, as long as it's... well, good I guess. Haha, not the most scintillating thing I ever said. Thanks for posting, hope to hear more of this awesome singer.
@lilythepink123 Thanks, Lily. Sounds like you and I are on the same wavelength:) Don't encourage me, I could go wild. Looking over my collection of music, which runs to thousands of recordings, I cannot help but notice how well represented country music is. Like you, I feel the dividing barrier is simply good vs. bad, which is the same as to say authentic vs. non-authentic. Calculated attempts to create something like" elevator music" always fail. The real immediately identifies itself.
Yep, no phony city kid with his hair down to his shoulders singing an anti-war song. All that is fine, and it has its place, but it's not folk music. Nowhere near.
Abetter voice you will never find, a close second may be Carter Stanley
