  • J DILLA!!! R.I.P. ----this is a great song!!!

  • dilla rip god

  • absolutely ON OF THE GREAT ALBUMS FROM THE 60'S

  • Crazy what those Ummah cats did with this... dig that.

  • always so preppy in a good way

  • @ 1:25 "Suddenly" & @ 1:42 "Drifting Back" ATCQ...wicked!! E

  • loverly, loverly!!!

  • thanks for the upload! had this on vinyl years back. now that i need it, the vinyl's gone. well, music heals as they say. or at least i hope it does or i'm really quite fucked.

  • Underrated grouo as they were around the same time as beatles. Personally i prefer some of their songs over the beatles. And to all the beatlemanias, IT'S NOT A DISS!

  • @widerling indeed! beatles. yes, their music was very inspirational and unique. yes, their production values were off the charts. but no, the beatles were not the only band to change the face of music. nor were they the only good band of their time. nor are they the only timeless band. 3 groups of people: a) the type that needs to get over the beatles b) the type that needs to give the beatles a chance c) the type that really dig the beatles and appreciate them for what they mean personally

  • Once again, a great vocal by Cyrkle keyboardist Michael Losekamp

  • I love it when producers are patient, a know... the actual sample is a good 1:40 into the song... like you know some cats that if it isnt in the first 16 bars of the song, its a waste. My beats reflect Dilla's idea of patients and listening to the actual song...

  • @LinJapanese I think Dilla was just enjoying the song, not necessarily "looking" for a sample. After all, great producers first must love music as a whole and appreciate it in its purest forms. Jay Dee did that well.

  • what an amazing sample from Jay Dee/The Ummah. How do you draw inspiration from this song to create ngas lovely as "Get A Hold"? That is my favorite ATCQ song - RIP Jay Dee.

  • i know im young and black and a hip hop R&B fan. but i will really put this on my ipod this is nice song melody and everything vocals

  • wonderful song

  • great song found this through atcq

  • @benGO94 Get A Hold right? Both are incredible songs...

  • @PFCMThomas yes both sure are

  • @benGO94 Get A Hold from Beats, Rhymes, and Life... Both are incredbile tracks.

  • @benGO94 Get a Hold from Beats, Rhymes, and Life...

  • Their best. Great song!

  • An absolute favorite! Someone used the word "haunt" and that's exactly what it did to me for weeks after first hearing it.. beautiful..

  • ATCQ-Get A Hold! This is a great song btw.

  • ...very cool song...

  • One of the most Beautiful songs ever written.

I became acquainted with this gem last year, and it will never leave me.

    Thank you for this post....

  • anyone know a track the samples the intro to this ? it's almost like an uptempo instr. remix ???

  • im not sure of the one that your talking about, but, A Tribe Called Quest sampled this on their Beats, Rhymes and Life album and it's called Get A Hold...

when i first heard this song, i knew that it was the sample from that song. It's a great song produced by J-Dilla -

  • He uses it as a sample amazingly..

    Classic, RIP Dilla

  • most definitely....RIP JD

  • @dazberlin shiiit!! i want to know that song to!! i have very nostalgic feelings with that song your talking about but i can't find it.. have you allready found it?

  • Great vocal by Cyrkle keyboardist Michael Losekamp!

  • One of the prettiest pop tunes ever written. It haunts you. These guys were just out of college when they did this. Thanks for re-posting this - it disappeared a few months ago. Regards, '62 Mathew St.
