thanks for the upload! had this on vinyl years back. now that i need it, the vinyl's gone. well, music heals as they say. or at least i hope it does or i'm really quite fucked.
Underrated grouo as they were around the same time as beatles. Personally i prefer some of their songs over the beatles. And to all the beatlemanias, IT'S NOT A DISS!
@widerling indeed! beatles. yes, their music was very inspirational and unique. yes, their production values were off the charts. but no, the beatles were not the only band to change the face of music. nor were they the only good band of their time. nor are they the only timeless band. 3 groups of people: a) the type that needs to get over the beatles b) the type that needs to give the beatles a chance c) the type that really dig the beatles and appreciate them for what they mean personally
I love it when producers are patient, a know... the actual sample is a good 1:40 into the song... like you know some cats that if it isnt in the first 16 bars of the song, its a waste. My beats reflect Dilla's idea of patients and listening to the actual song...
@LinJapanese I think Dilla was just enjoying the song, not necessarily "looking" for a sample. After all, great producers first must love music as a whole and appreciate it in its purest forms. Jay Dee did that well.
what an amazing sample from Jay Dee/The Ummah. How do you draw inspiration from this song to create ngas lovely as "Get A Hold"? That is my favorite ATCQ song - RIP Jay Dee.
im not sure of the one that your talking about, but, A Tribe Called Quest sampled this on their Beats, Rhymes and Life album and it's called Get A Hold...
when i first heard this song, i knew that it was the sample from that song. It's a great song produced by J-Dilla -
@dazberlin shiiit!! i want to know that song to!! i have very nostalgic feelings with that song your talking about but i can't find it.. have you allready found it?
One of the prettiest pop tunes ever written. It haunts you. These guys were just out of college when they did this. Thanks for re-posting this - it disappeared a few months ago. Regards, '62 Mathew St.
