How is this a big deal? The school knew what they were getting into when they invited him to speak. Amy Poehler gave a graduation speech at Harvard and she talked about comedy. If they didn't want to hear about the single biggest issue Al Gore cares about, they shouldn't have invited Al Gore. I think that in order for Al Gore to be consistent, he should not have used the microphone to speak. The speaker system is powered by electricity, which uses energy and contributes to "global warming". Then, Al Gore would have to speak as loud as possible to be heard - which, he would have done more than his fair share of contributing to global warming with all the hot air he puts out.
BTW, I'm sure he enjoyed the air conditioning that day.

Solar is great except that electrically powered autos waste power/energy due to the transmission line losses, battery coulomb charge losses and other inefficiencies in the system.

The most efficient way is...wait for it... ICE's. Internal Combustion Engines fueled by a tank of petroleum distillates less than 3 meters from the engine.

Only when the efficiency meets that of ICE's will electric autos save energy.

How do you think these alternative energies are going to become more efficient? By more people investing in them and getting the proper R&D to make them that way. If we play the "keep using ICE because they're more efficient game" then it's going to be a very long time before any real progress is made.
That's Doublespeak. If the transmission chain wastes BTU's, and you know that it does, then it wastes energy and there is a lot of waste. Engineers need to get the coulomb charge efficiency WAAAY up past 70% and they need to upgrade every single stage in the electrical power grid.

@Knepperify1 Yes, but there is an extremely important difference in that waste. When we burn coal and put out C02 emissions, some of that energy is wasted, leading us to burn more coal than would normally be necessary if we had efficient transmission lines.
Now Solar produces less energy, but the waste is proportional along the transmission lines. The difference is that increasing solar intake to help make up for that energy waste would NOT put any more physical waste into the air.

I know it's not going be one of the main contributors in my life time, but it wouldn't hurt for humans to start looking at things beyond their natural life here on Earth. Im not a denier, I just want more proof? is that hard to ask. Besides I'm agreeing with the Gaia Theory over the Global Warming one. Its more founded that there is carbon and the way to fix it is by returning the carbon back into the earth. (Ie throwing bio degradable waste, plant clippings, tree clippings, anything that can degrade) and covering it up, Its not a clear solution but we are using pre existing carbon fuels that are pressurized into becoming oil and natural gas.

I think that in order for Al Gore to be consistent, he should not have used the microphone to speak. The speaker system is powered by electricity, which uses energy and contributes to "global warming". Then, Al Gore would have to speak as loud as possible to be heard - which, he would have done more than his fair share of contributing to global warming with all the hot air he puts out.
BTW, I'm sure he enjoyed the air conditioning that day.

The most efficient way is...wait for it... ICE's. Internal Combustion Engines fueled by a tank of petroleum distillates less than 3 meters from the engine.

Only when the efficiency meets that of ICE's will electric autos save energy.

How do you think these alternative energies are going to become more efficient? By more people investing in them and getting the proper R&D to make them that way. That's Doublespeak. If the transmission chain wastes BTU's, and you know that it does, then it wastes energy and there is a lot of waste. Engineers need to get the coulomb charge efficiency WAAAY up past 70% and they need to upgrade every single stage in the electrical power grid.

@Knepperify1 Yes, but there is an extremely important difference in that waste. When we burn coal and put out C02 emissions, some of that energy is wasted, leading us to burn more coal than would normally be necessary if we had efficient transmission lines.
Now Solar produces less energy, but the waste is proportional along the transmission lines. The difference is that increasing solar intake to help make up for that energy waste would NOT put any more physical waste into the air.

You are correct that WEST Antarctica has show temperature increases over the last 10 years. Last time I read Al Gore's bio he did not have a degree in Earth Science, Meteorology, or anything related in Science in general. He has a freaking political science degree just because it says science doesn't mean it is. How come he doesnt name the 'scientist' he's quoting. Im not a denier, I just want more proof? is that hard to ask. Besides I'm agreeing with the Gaia Theory over the Global Warming one. Its more founded that there is carbon and the way to fix it is by returning the carbon back into the earth. (Ie throwing bio degradable waste, plant clippings, tree clippings, anything that can degrade) and covering it up, Its not a clear solution but we are using pre existing carbon fuels that are pressurized into becoming oil and natural gas.
