The difference between Nature Boy Buddy Rogers and Nature Boy Ric Flair is Flair didn't mind putting people over when he wrestled. If Flair's opponent didn't want to lose to Flair, they could wrestle him to a sixty minute draw and Flair would be cool with that. No need to play any politics, but whenever Rogers had to lose a match he always had some readymade excuse. Rogers could also be very arrogant in the ring. There were times when he wouldn't sell his opponent's offense and you can't do that
Buddy Rogers was a very shady individual. When Buddy Rogers didn't want to do a job he would call off sick, complain to the promoter, no show an event or come up with some excuse to avoid losing the match. Great World Champion? Yes, but Buddy Rogers is also the primary reason why there's so much politics involved in professional wrestling today. Hulk Hogan's book isn't the only book wrestlers study when they don't want to do a job. They study Roger's book too unfortuanately for all of us.
wrestling started out being real. when promoters saw certain wrestlers drew more money than others. that is when they decided on how to make sure specific people won or lost.
If you watched the documentary u would see the sport started out as real and shoot fights but because they lasted so long for hours upon hours it was decided they would become worked matches instead which also if watched the documentary because this pretty common knowledge even bfore this dvd. It still baffles me to this day how non fans are so ignorant about a business which they care to know nothing about or understand but have an opinion on to wish most don't care about
