  • @okalkushmando Thanks, it's by a band called Sigur Ros and the song is 'Staralfur'

  • that opening shot is amazing. looks like a movie

  • AMAZING! You are an inspiration!

  • hv30 or 40?

  • 30.

  • Awesome, thanks. Good luck shooting.

  • Eric, I would assume that the Raynox DCR-6600 lense makes it widescreen?

Also, others have the same camera and 24p settings on their videos. But their videos are still not full in screen (wide-wise)like yours. How did you manage that? Thanks

  • The lens doesn't make it widescreen, the naked HV30 should already be in the 16:9 format. However, if you're referring to the black bars in the video...they were just applied in post. Hope that helps.

  • First off, this is a beautiful video! This video makes me really feel like I'm there!

But I was just wondering what you mean by de-interlacing? I use FCP 6 to edit my HV30 video, but I've never "de-interlaced in Compressor"... What does this mean?

  • Thanks Mike, I really appreciate the comment. Well interlaced video is sort of hard to explain, but to sum things up, sometimes you see lines in the video that look like glitches when its interlaced. In order to get rid of those lines, you have to de-interlace it. There is more to it than just that because it's pretty elaborate, but that is essentially what de-interlacing does.

  • ohhh cool! thanks man!

  • Really inspiring

  • Thank you.

  • Being half-Japapanese and having a lot of my family and important moments of my childhood left in Japan, this video has an unwritten special meaning for me. Thanks so much for filiming it and putting it together.

I am also positively sure that all exchange students and 1 year english teachers ect would feel the same way.

  • i feel the same ^^

  • I can't agree more with you :-)

    very nostalgic

  • Thank you so much. It really means a lot to me. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

  • ...i just came back from japan a month ago ...

your video is absolutely beautifull, it brought back so many special memories, it made me cry...

  • Wow, that's a great compliment, thanks so much. Hopefully you'll be able to visit again.

  • yeah...i hope that too...

  • Absolutely fantasic video. You are an artist with the camera, great!!

  • Thank you so much. I appreciate it!

  • Ridiculously good video, I just bought the HV30 to film videos exactly like this one. Thank you for the great inspiration .. awesome shots, perfect music / synching, and my need to visit Japan has just increased ten-fold..

  • Haha, awesome. The HV30 is a great camera. Good luck shooting!

  • I have to say the camera is very good for it's price. Of course there are obviously much better cameras out there, but if you're willing to pay a little under $1,000...I would choose this camera out of all the other consumer HD camcorders.

  • so was that your first time over there? how was it? its always been one of my biggest dreams to one day go

  • Yes it was my first time, it was amazing. It was exactly how I envisioned it to be.

  • 才能あるね。

  • I'm not quite sure what this reads, haha sorry.

  • 何て書いてありますか。

  • This is absolutely stunning, i love it.

  • Thanks.
