  • thank you kehenry for posting this vid. I am one of the gourd dancers following the eagle stalf and flag in on grand entry. yes its a small powwow, small g.e., but we do have a lot of full bloods that come out. one short video cant tell the story of this powwow or the people that put it on. all you "full bloods" that posted negitive comments on here, dont judge the people on this vid based on a 3 minute look. its a 3 day powwow, you missed most of it

  • The Osage pow-wow is held every June in Eldon Mo , at Miller County Fairgrounds, and it's going on this weekend, , and I plan on going to it this weekend.

  • I see no Osage and these look like bad costumes!

  • @skatemusic

For some reason, many Osage comments are censored by YouTube.

More reason to go beyond the veil for we offspring.

  • WERS MY WASAZI PEOPLES ATT!!!..

  • Whats next ponca river powwow or comanche river powwow? Think of a new name. geez!!!

  • @comancheballer2 I have a feeling the reason they called it The Osage River Inter-Tribal Powwow is probably because it was held on the OSAGE RIVER!! It's a large river and tributary to the Missouri River, I have fished it many times, in fact the Osage feeds Truman Lake and Lake of the Ozarks.

  • @comancheballer2

grow up. nobody owns the name Osage. this powwow is held a stones throw from the osage river thus the name. if there is a ponca river somewhere, why not use the name? do you own the copy right on it? didnt think so.

  • mkay... I'm Osage but I'm not gunna talk like I know it all cuz i don't live on the nation, I live in Dallas but I have been to PLENTY of pow wows (heck I was in Shawnee OK 2 days ago for a pow wow) and know enough about my culture to know this is NOT Osage.... like 2 of the women are wearing cherokee tear dresses! I see NO Osage regalia or even a smidgen of Osage ribbon work

  • @smashXtheXwindows you're right it was not OSAGE it was INTER-TRIBAL, and held on the Osage River, hence the name.

  • @smashXtheXwindows

i have been attending this powwow for 8 years now. i have never heard anyone say that this is the osage nation powwow. The Osage River powwow is held as an inter tribal powwow on the Osage River. just because it has Osage in the name doesnt mean its going to be all Osage tribal members.

  • Congrats to the Osage Nation on your purchase of that historic St Louis Mound.

  • oh my.

btw what exactly is the part about a hidden man and woman supposed to be about?

  • buh what kind of pw

  • Osage pow wow? They certainly aren't called pow wows in Oklahoma.

  • man i could say so much about this post, i could talk till im blue in the face but i dont think its gonna do a bit of good here.

im just gonna shake my head in disappointment and say...

    ...weak sauce.

  • You need to change the name of this to Osage River Powwow. The Osage Nation doesn't have a powwow. I looked at the flyer and it was in Eldon, Missouri. This weekend was our break of the I'n-Lon-Schka Ceremonial Dances for us Wah-zha-zhe here in Oklahoma. It says the Princess is part Osage.

  • man I never post anything before but this looks like a powwow put together by boyscouts and the weekend indians

  • Last but not least, as a blog that focuses on history and military, let me offer you an opportunity to provide information, history and suggest some events or experiences. we have an avid readership. Of particular interest would be anything about the warrior culture or honoring warriors such as those who have been in the military. But, feel free to expound on anything you wish.

If interested, send me a message through this account on how I can contact you (like email) to arrange it.

  • Read previous comment first. As a third point, I would note that the small community event is why there was such a diversity of people represented. It is not an area where there are large communities of Native Americans of one tribe or another. Very likely why it was "inter-tribal".

Last point, there is considerable inter-marriage for two centuries. In such communities as this, there is limited purity, but I appreciate the fact that such people still honor their heritage, however small.

  • First, let me thank you for the continuing civility of your comments.

Second, I would agree with you that it would be appropriate to seek out the best events and venues to get such an education. I am sure there are better places to do so than a little get together in the middle of no where Missouri; where I was at the time I discovered the event.

  • I dont disagree with the suggestion of learning about native american culture but do so with honor and respect. I think if you was osage you would better understand why I am frustrated with this video. would you rather know the truth or authenticity of a culture or someones perception of osage culture. If I want wine I dont drink kool-aid. Again I am in no-way deterring you from suggesting to learn other native cultures. I hope you have a better perception of why I am so disappointed.

  • Gentlemen, I blog. The castle and bagpipes represents where I blog. We are being ourselves. I happened to attend this get together and put together a little video for those who visit the blog.

I suggested at the time that they should seek out such events and take their children to learn something about our native American culture. Experience America as it were. You are making me regret that considerably.

  • Dear Soldier whoever you are. I only attended the powwow, I didn't name it. If you are concerned, you will have to take that up with the people who put the event on.

I might note that it was called "inter-tribal" for a reason.

  • bagpipes and subtitles- Be yourself!

  • This does not represent osages...change the name of your so called powwow. Kehenry 1 I dont know who you are but I will advise you to change the name of this get together

  • This is a joke. You need to take the osage off this. Osages don't look anything like these clowns. There isn't one dancer in osage cloths on this!!! Don't try to be something your not....

  • thank you for the advise on where we can enjoy more get togethers.

JR...the intemperance of youth is showing.

  • Where's the Osages? Oh yeah, in Oklahoma celebrating our real dances like we have for over a hundred years, that's why there nothing but this hobbyist BS in Missouri.

  • you want to see a real powwow of the osage its the kihekasteh powwow in Skitook Oklahoma you wont see this kinda of hobbyist stuff.
