I have HP pavilion a1520n windows XP 2005 desk top lost my sound some how?tryed many different ways to try getting it back no luck@all even installed seperate sound board to by pass the intergrated sound board that's built in the mother board & again no luck no sound!!! I recently re-installed my windows xp after deleting/resetting the memory/comp. I believe my sound card got messed up within that process. I have an ac97 sound card inserted into my computer. It's good that my headset is working, no sound at all but had strachy sound when speakers plugged in the headset jack so not really sure if main problem is on the speakers' jack itself; it's much useful if the next time around you could utilized a note pad coz' others can't hear you then. If you guys are still getting the "NO AUDIO DEVICE" and have tried everything and you know for a fact that all your drivers are up-to date and correctly installed, try pressing F1 on boot, go to the Advanced tab, change the PLUG & PLAY OS to 'NO' then press F10 to SAVE & Quit. Worked for me.
