BYU could do it.. they just dont want too. we sell out every game. they may just dont want to risk not selling out.. at 67,000 seats its already big for just Provo area / Utah Valley. BUT saying that I would really love to see BYU at least fill in the 4 corners, and have some endzone benches. Just dont see them spending 1 - 2 million for it to be done, unless we start cashing in on BCS money.
@notageek123 Look at the way Florida and Nebraska closed their end zones. BYU could find a way to close them, though it may not look like a true bowl.
@notageek123 Gamebox123 is right! My dad works in the Purchasing dept at BYU and has had people come look at the stadium to see if it is possible and they said it was very easy to close in the sides with the current stadium and no "tilting" would happen.
if you are going to do an upper deck then atleast make it the whole thing. but the only problem with the whole thing is that it would cost too much and i dont know if they could sale that many tickets. but it would be nice to atleast fill in the gaps
it would be cool but the only way BYUs gonna get that much money is the bcs money that we would get if we could get into one of the big confrences i meen look at the SECs stadiums thats becuse of bcs money
what BYU, Utah, Boise St., TCU need to do is to prove themselves worthy(i think they are already worthy) to everyone that they are a BCS conference. Boise St. needs to join the Mountain West Conference for that to happen.
because BYU is one of the oldest educational institutions in the country and one of hte highest rated academic centers as well?? Guess they wouldn't be a good fit.
Hey bubble boy....BYU is a great school but the PAC-10 has already defined parameters around insitutional standards and BYU doesn't meet them. It's as simple as that.
@Gamebox27 well shoot, I never said that... its still older than most state schools in the west. You're comparing areas that were first inhabited/explored about 200 years apart
actually the MW is under review of the "BS" or the "BCS" as most people know it. They are starting a 4 year cycle to determine if the mountain west will be an automatic BCS bowl bid conference. This was the first year of the 4 and so far so good. 12 - 6 against "BS" teams, 5 bowl games, the true national champ, and loads of improving teams for next season. Even if the officials get paid off so they keep the MW out, it won't matter because we'll keep beating the "better" teams.
to make it possible, BYU would have to 1) get into the pac-10, and 2) sell out for 10 straight seasons. it won't happen in the MWC. as a big fan in ogden, i don't feel like paying for season tickets and driving to provo to see them play northern iowa, new mexico, wyoming, san diego state, and colorado state. BARF. if they were playing ucla, arizona, arizona state, and oregon at home, then i would buy season tix every year! i think some fellow cougar fans understand what i mean.
Why because the PAC 10 isbetter than the MWC?? What was the MW record against the PAC 10 this year? .... 6 -2? Oh yeah but the PAC 10 will allways be better .... lol ...
Mandatory side changes would make it less practical, but I thought I'd suspend logic a little for a silly video.
I do think the first two parts should be realized eventually. Both expansions would bring the capacity up to 80-100K. I read that they already have footings for the second deck when needed. That was put in back in the 80s.
I posted it when after the second straight shutout at LES (UCLA + Wyoming). In fact, no opposing team has gotten into the endzone since Northern Iowa. New Mexico only kicked a field goal. It was something stupid I posted for Cougarboard. Yes, the idea is ridulous. That's the point.
Phase 3 LOL.

What would this make the stadium? 65,000 to like, 100,000 people? That would be absolutely huuuuuuge
catthtlndsonback 1 year ago
I would rather see them get actual seats than the aluminum benches they have now. please do that before expanding the stadium capacity.

this is not possible because one of the aides is higher than the other so the expanded part would tilt

lol. I like the endzone bleachers. They are actually in the endzone!!!!! Those don't make much sense based on this video.

That's absolutely not true..... the BCS was created in 1998 and I'm pretty sure most of those big SEC stadiums existed before that....

Better start charging more for season tickets to those grandfathered in or go to a BCS game before anything happens.

I AGREE BUT NOT THE ENDZONE!! HA HA LOL

BYU should do something about those grain silos in front. Ha Ha!!!!!!

The upper deck part is a little far fetched but filling the corners would be amazing! And the end zone bleachers is really funny too.

I like the idea, but I dont getthe endzone bleachers.

Awesome thinking! BYU needs to make it partially covered though so the people at the top dont freeze in winter ya know?

PAC-10 has already said BYU wouldn't be a good fit because they are mostly only known as an undergrad school.

#1. Not one of the oldest.
It's required that Pac-10 school recieve federal money as "research institutions" Which BYU does not, and is not.

@SauceCaptain 1875 isn't that old. Some Ivy League schools have been around since the 1600s
