This one isn't too bad, what with all the background animation and all. (The 1979-1980 version comes to mind.) Oh, and there was a slate grey version of this very visual.

I also had nightmares about logos, etc., coming off the TV screen right at me, including one about a CBS logo gone wrong (where the "B" and "S" were switched and the "B" came right AT me).

Yeah...I used to have dreams where the Eye would suck me into the TV, or come out of the TV to get me. And, of course, the booming "This is CBS!!" voice was the topper.

Oh, how would the Eye kill me in the dreams...think a large branding iron.

Guess what, this logo isn't dead on CBS! It's shown on a set of the Early Show along with the 1951 logo and the 1992 logo.

i dont understand why i keep seeing people that leave comments about the eye being scary. on almost every cbs bumper i watch. lol it's such a plain eye logo...i guess everyone's scared of something different

It was often a solid outline or shade on a solid background with the CBS reference in the pupil (dot), and little else. Just look at any 70s interpretation of the ident immediately following the animation. As we went into the 80s, there was little animation but extra background. Finally, in the 90s, the reference appeared OUTSIDE the entire logo to create a less frightening appearance. That help?

Well it's scary to a point in which there's no music with it. I found them more annoying because it was played one too many times. We're all scared of something different for sure. When I was younger, I remember FOX used to have a giant Apple on screen whenever a TV Special was going to commercial. I don't know if it's on YouTube somehwere, but if it is, I'm gonna face my fear.

Who cares that some people were afraid of it? And besides they're talking about when they were kids, kids tend to be afraid of all kinds of things often inexplicably. I think it's pretty funny.

I know, I was so afraidthe paramount logo that was used from 1975-87. Because of that I did nto like to sit through pre-1987 episodes of Family Ties or Cheers.

The CBS Special presentation bumper was creepy at times too.

Since I haven't seen that id for so long and many people tend to forget how certin tv shows movies and styles were goofy looking especially from an id from 18 years ago.
