  • I'm digging the spinning reel on a baitcasting rod...haha!

  • instead of lowering the drag. like go to walmart and invest like maybe 40-50$ in a baitrunner reel for carp it should be pretty good for gar.

  • at 2:00 i love that sound

  • can you make a tutorial (:!

  • is that oyster creek

  • you suck balls

  • bait?

  • hey bro wat part of texas are you from

  • @ 3:15 ....Baitcasting Pole on Spinning Reel? I don't think that adds up...

  • @Hmong616 lol ive ehh i saw a guy using a a fly rod for a spinning reel he kept bitching why its so long.

  • hey were in texas are u located at? ive been gar fishing these past couple days

in texas too, but way down south...DONNA to be exact. was wondering what kind of

bait u use? and is it better to use a bobber/floater? any tips would help ...

    thanks.

  • I had atleast 3 or 4 gar's at my feet but right when I try to put the rope around them the hook comes loose every single time.. so freaking frustrating.

  • all yall haters shut the fuck up he is useing wat he has and still catches more fish than you and hit me up bro i live on the oyster creek one day we have to hit it up

  • are you abt to cry at 1:41? lol

  • y a big pole and small rill

  • you shuld have hooked that fish 9 minutes ago, that aint how you hoobang a gar buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!when you let all your line out like that your runnin a big chance of big nasty striping you line off those wal-mart reels.

  • you shuld have hooked that fish 9 minutes ago, that aint how you hoobang a gar buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well kid, for one, you need something better than a $20 Cat-Stik rod and reel set. I use Penn rod and reels, 60-100 lb. braided line, 3-5 foot steel leader, and big hooks like 3/0. Aside from that we also use crossbows with Muzzy gar points and a special rig with 200 lb line. The amount of line a fish takes has nothing to do with the size. A big Gar is gonna smoke that line and reel. A real one would also pull you right into the water. Not trying to be mean, just sayin.

  • @TSSIone haha well he is willing to get all this if you buy it from him, he obviously uses what he can buy. now go and buy it for him or shut the fuck up

  • @carllos25

Shut up beaner. Aint nothin more annoying than a smart mouth little boy. Except maybe a bunch of mosquitoes. I wasn't being mean. You had to act like what you think is tough, and it aint even involving you.

  • @TSSIone ive my share of big gar now, this was 2 years ago. And beleive me, I dont care how big the fish is it couldnt pull me in the water.

  • @TSSIone I didn't act tough dough boy, I just stated my mind to a mindless comment you posted.

  • @TSSIone oh and by the way, that white fishing ugly stick, is one hell of a rod.

  • How much would you charge to take a group of friends and me to a fishing trip. We buy all necesseties you just provide the hot spots

  • @dieselcrazy07 lol i wouldnt charge ill just tell u were the spot is, message me

  • hey srry to say but u have a small real for that pole i have a baitcaster for my bass pole and a catfish real on my big one u should by catfish one there real nice

  • if youve seen small gar swimming around that area try a small piece of nylon rope that is all frayed up and when they bite it their teeth get stuck in it and they cant get out, i have caught gator and longnose gar up to 20 pounds using the frayed rope

  • great video guys we don,t have gar or catfish up here in alberta but we have big sturgeon that are just as frustrating to try to catch and land.i have caught some big cats in kansas but not gar.good fishing and good luck

  • Went out to my grandparents lake house, and they've got so many gar it's unbelievable. I fished day and night for a week, and i played the same game you did, 15 different times, i have a fish on, and i'd let it run for atleast 5 minutes, set the hook, and i'd come back with nothing. The one time i had one hooked, i was reeling in to check my bait, and i got a run, and i set the hook, and atleast a 4 foot gar went air borne and my line snapped. I couldonly bring in cats and bass, real frustrating

  • @TitanSwole maybe your drag is too tight i mean i pull in alligator gar bigger than me with en pound test i see that your too excited too much in a rush to reel him in let your drag go enough to where you feel a little bit of tension cause i think u have to much and take your time once hes hooked he aint getting off just take your time and let him get tired trust me u will get one.

  • the bait dont let him take it to long cause he will drop it give it about three min and set the hook as hard as you can dont be so anxious to reel him in so fast just take your time and relax once he is hooked he isnt going anywhere.

  • @traciNmark I'll be tryin this, but instead of mono, i use 50 lb braid, i do a lot of big time cat fishin and bay, so i only use braid.

  • hey bro here is some gar fishing tips i fish in south texas and my biggest gar is a 5`9 gar check it out here is good rig put your weight at the bottom of your line and where you tie your line to the weight add about three feet of 30# mono and tie a big treble hook the biggest you can find not to big but big and use either whole or cut shiner or bluegill if you use bluegill use about a 3 inch blue and hit it with a piece of rock or something so the blood can come outt and cast it when it take

  • CHECK MY ALLIGATOR GAR OUT !! I HAVE FULL HIGH QUALITY VIDEOS! WE HAVE TO MEET UP AT GIBBONS CREEK IN TEXAS I"LL TAKE YOU OUT FOR THE MONSTERS

  • His line about spooled

  • nice catfish what lake are you fishin in?in missouri u cant really find alligator gar.but they have longnose

  • sorry it took me so long to reply, im fishin in oyster creek, southeast tx

  • i always use a steel leader when im fishing for gar, not a big one just something to keep the line off the teeth

  • thanks, i also dont think i waited long enough

  • try reeling in till you have like no slack between u and the fish and set the hook normally then reel in all the slack and do a medium hard hook set. you lost them by settting the hook to0 much. i like that baitcaster rod witht he spinnning reel lol

  • ok thanks for the tip, unfortunately both that rod and reel are broken now :(

  • where can i find these gar and what should i use?

  • slow moving rivers or creeks, any large sized cut/live bait will work fine

  • you stink!

  • yall r dumb asses none of ya know how to fish for gar if u wanna catch gar use top watr lures idiots it works better dan anythin u dumb fucks

  • thanks for watching :)

  • Gibbins Creeks inbetween huntsville and college station tx has monsters. Try this. on the 2 foot leader zip tie a nylon rop all untreaded with a big circle cut hook at the end. Cast it out there and jig it on the top and reel fast (bait fishs skooling noise/ Fish boiling. they will hit it. Yellow rope looks the best and pretends to be the lure. the roge also gets stuck in there mouths if the hook doesnt set. Try it. Lake gibbins Texas Best Gar fishing

  • awesome! thanks i will have to get that spot a try....is it ok if i fish from shore there or do i need a boat

  • what u guys use for bait???

  • dead palm sized bluegill, put them on whole but make a few cuts in him to get the blood flowin

  • thanks man

  • Yeah I Caught A 200 Pounder in Da Trinity River 2 Weeks Ago Good Fite

  • we went to the trinity and every time a fish picks up your bait it gets it tangled in the trinity's countless amount of snags

  • You don't have to set the hook five times in a row dipshit

  • u have to set it more than once

  • ok why do u let the fish run with the line before u set the hook. If u do that it has a better chance of getting off u know.

  • not with gar they hold it in their mouths and run with it. when they stop thats when they eat it and u set the hook

  • thanks

  • wut do u use to catch gar? i know u have to use leaders but wut else?

  • big chunks of cut bait on a big circle hook, steel leaders, and reels that can hold at least 175 yds of 50 lb line

  • Try 2/0 to 6/0 trebles. I used to fish with circle hooks for a loooong time and had no luck. they just didn't set. I've since switched to trebles. No big uns yet, but it's a lot easier to set the hook. Good luck and great vid!

  • ok ill try that out have you ever had problems removing the treble hook though?

  • On occasion. Typically anything over 2 ft, and I'm eating anyways, but for the most part even if the treble is caught, they've got that weird fish chemistry going on, they just coat it in mucus, and from what "science" tells us, they push it out of their body within a few days. If you're looking for some real lunkers, you should check the San Bernard River and the Brazos, north of the Harris reservoir. The salt water has pushed up to that point, so the gar and cats have moved.

  • i get my license soon so ill check that out, im also heading to the trinity river in like 2 weeks to get some lunkkers as well :)

  • nice u from rice university?

  • hahaha no i had a swim meet that they hosted

  • u want a good tip....i fish for gar all the time idk if u were but u hav to use a wire leader cuz they cut through mono and braided power pro

  • yea we had 2 ft wire leaders on

  • too bad that pole died today

    RIP cat stik :(

  • idk if u were or not but u hav to use wire leader i fish for em all the time...they bite through mono or braided u must use leader

  • hes repaired now, the ghetto way ;)

  • you gotta get bigger spools with more line in them so they can run longer and get the bait deeper in their mouths in the softer spots.

  • i know.........my surf rod the second one you see in the video is perfect for gar though.......I thought that it was in the softer spots but I was scared to wait to long cause I didnt want to gut hook them

  • you have to let them run until they stop and set the hook quick before they swallow it, and it should get them in the corner of the mouth

  • ok thanks for the tip

  • Nice video*****!!!! I love how you guys just let them run before setting the hook.

  • nice video-sucks when ya lose a big one=-nice cat

  • Thanks man, atleast we know that there is still big ones there :)

  • o n u have to set da hook first 5 minutes of line runin bro

  • Awesome video guys!! A fish is a fish is a fish as long as it swims!! I target just about everything too.

  • yea and i like fishing for the fish that give better fights, Thanks!

  • They don't call em rough fish for no reason!! LOL!
