Stephen Fried is a great journalist/writer. I've read many biographies but he is so very dedicated to detail and really encompassing the depth of despair and raw emotion of his subject. While its considered importatnt to be objective in journalism I think the best writers/biographers do become emotionally invested. Without doing that I think you are doing a diservice to your subject. Thing of beauty is awesome

If you want to know the full story, read the book "Thing Of Beauty". It's basically a true biography about her. The filmmakers decided to tone it down. Usually films exaggerate, but in Gia's case they decided to do the opposite.
