Has anyone bothered to tell Obama that the view he expressed in that fundraiser (the "elitist" view) is simply mainstream Social Psychology?? People under threat, or who have suffered from a setback, _do_ retrench to their ingroup, and do reaffirm their important cultural values (such as religion and gun ownership). It would be astonishing if on average there wasn't some bitterness in Pennsylvanai - not bitter 24/7, but some dispirited outlooks. Obama is just saying the truth.
