I came here looking for information on cyber shinobi and seeing as how you love the shinobi games except that one, I guess I'll pass on it. It isn't exactly cheap on ebay. And Alex Kidd always seemed more like a parody of the Ninja Gaiden arcade game, because of the pole swinging and the fact that you don't have any shurikens.

My favorites are Revenge of Shinobi, Shinobi III and the GG Version. I found the GG Version for it's time very impressive and it played itself very well.

I'd totally forgotten about Shinobi for the PS2. I rented it when it came out, and loved it, despite never completing it. Looks like I'll have to look out for it at my local game shop, especially since I'm sure it's cheap now!

I actually remember playing Shinobi on the Game Gear when I was a kid. Wow, seeing that footage brings back some memories. Great video. Thanks for making it, Johnny!

Fantastic vid guy's. I love the Shinobi series. Revenge Of Shinobi was actually one of the first games that I ever completed on the Sega Megadrive. My favorite Shinobi game is the first one, although Revenge runs it close. I have only just discovered your channel and I am happy that I did. I look forward to more great vids!

Kind of funny that the Shinobi sequel was call "Nightshade" when there's an old NES game that the HVGN reviewed of the same name. I don't know why they couldn't have stuck with the Japanese name...

Anyway, great review! I think I prefer the Shinobi series to Ninja Gaiden. I mean I like Ninja Gaiden but those games are so frustrating! At least I can get further in shinobi!

In my mind Ninja Gaiden will NEVER come close to Shinobi, but then again i grew up in a time where the original Shinobi arcade was at the end of my street inside the fish and chip shop!

I have played ninja gaiden on xbox1 and 360 and didn't think too much of it at all!

I still never forget the original fish and chip shop owners son used to be able to beat the bonus stage EVERY time!

We used to tell him it was because his mum owned the shop LOL.

I've heard different opinions as to whether Alex Kidd was ever officially SEGA's mascot. As I understand it, people just assumed he was because he was comparable to Mario and that in reality, Opa Opa was SEGA's mascot prior to Sonic.

I remember playing Alex Kidd in Shinobi World when I was a kid. It was awesome. BTW, the first boss is supposed to be a Mario parody, hence the fireballs and the loss of size when he gets hit. His name was changed from Mari-oh to Kabut-oh, though.

Shinobi was the reason I purchased a Sega Master System back in the day.

In my opinion, the reason Shinobi took a backseat to the Ninja Gaiden series was due to its progressive drop in quality. I loved the original and "Revenge" but started losing interest in the series afterward.

Shinobi was at its best when it was an old-world style ninja killing mythical/modern/near-future opponents on a 2D plane.
