I think they're taking the analogy a bit too seriously at times. How is Basketball more Jazz than Hip-Hop? Still, interesting and well spoken points.

Basketball is more jazz than hip-hop because basketball, like jazz, depends on collective improvisation. In hip-hop, improvisation is far less important, and seldom occurs collectively. (Even when rappers improvise, they generally do so alone or to the accompaniment of a set arrangement; when a jazz musician solos, the other members of the band improvise their accompaniment.)
Tthe analogy is rather forced, but I think a better question might be "How is basketball more jazz than soccer is?"
