  • Everyone plays this too slowly!

In "The Beethoven Quartet Companion" Michael Steinberg wrote, "It is quick, very quick... quartets often play it too slowly for an Allegro assai in 3/8... [If fast enough] these hairpins can produce something close to seasickness."

My personal favorite is the Hungarian Quartet's record in 1966. This Casals Quartet's speed is resembling.

  • Pura sutileza!! es VERDADERA MÚSICA!!!

  • Can you tell us who is playing this magnificent work?

  • @andremaimo, The Vegh Quartet. 1973, I think. There are free 1952 recordings (which I think are better) to download: google cocoa classical, go to site, search beethoven in top right corcer search engine, register 4 free (easy), and go to PAGE 6: OPUS 127-135.
