@travelsonic Yeah I spent too much time playing this too lol. The Game Boy music is always and will forever be memorable but yes the arcade tunes were superb as well.
I pefrer the nes tegen version of this theme, but to be honest they both sound exactly the same. Whats funny even the clear theme is hidden in the nes cartridge from the arcade.
Man, I wish I could play this version of Tetris. I heard you can download it on the Internet, but it requires an emulator to work. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to play this without an emulator? If so, also include the link to go there! Thanks!
@virtualboy2558 I'm not sure if there is I'm afraid but as soon as I know different I'll let you know on it. Yes this requires MAME to play which is free and safe to use but I understand emulation isn't everyone's cup of tea, from copyright laws to being completely against it and so forth but it's always worked for me and given me fresh ideas, this channel being one of them.
@GBelair Well I was fortunate with getting the MAME32 (now MAMEUI I think) and it does the trick but I do know a few that haven't been so lucky with MAME. Once you do get it all set up and working its a terrific piece of kit but it's just a bugger to get around too.
Ahhh.... my firsy semester at SUNY Purchase in a nutshell - the student center has Tetris, Arkanoid, and a slew of other games - half busted though. >_<
For several years I was frequenting a small hotel in Italy. They had an arcade room with several pinball tables, a Hang On 95 and King of Fighters 95 cabinet and this wonderful game, out of which I used to play the living fuck. Great memories.
Growing up if an arcade had Tetris, you could easily tell. Now arcades aren't what they used to be and they just don't have addicting games like Tetris anymore (at least around my area they don't).
I used to go to Olympic arcade in Rochester, NY, and the Tetris machine was the loudest game in the place. No matter what game you were playing, this glorious song would be ringing out in the background.
@oheao Its fantastic! I love this version! You have to clear a certain number of lines to progress through each level. I play this on MAME constantly!
To all tetris original arcade music connoisseurs : I remember , in some arcade machines this very song sounded different (maybe because the chip used to play the music was malfunctioning or because it was some other brand I don't know). Point is, it used to play differently depending on the machine (there were 2 versions that I could notice). Noone at the time, remembers but I do and I have been trying to find that version for years.
@piccard1976 The machines that played the song differently, were, in fact, I think they were bootleg versions with the sound chips (2xAtari POKEY) replaced with different sound chips (3xTexas Instruments SN76489), but shared the same sound roms with the original version.
One of the two bootleg sets emulated in MAME is an example of a bootleg with a different sound chip. It's subtitled "(bootleg set 2)". And that might contain the alt. version of the Atari Tetris music you're looking for.
Yeah I knew that beforehand, but i didn't name it because a couple of them I didn't know and I felt it would have been silly to only name a couple rather than all. Perhaps I should tag it. Didn't know who composed this version now so thanks for the info.

I used to go to a college with a Tetris machine - MAYBE not the actual cabinet, but the boards [circuit boards] were legit enough.
Wasted too much time playing this. :D
[My favorite tune will always be type A from the Game Boy version, but the arcade version had a lot of great tracks too.

@Zooropa420 On MAME do you mean Zooropa?

@Otouto72
Yes, for MAME. I grabbed a couple Tetris, but none of them are this version.

@Zooropa420 atetris is what you are looking for then - Tetris (set 1) is the parent. Hope this helps.
