Rather than strike back and say that his word's were way out of line, they could have taken this and revealed their plan's to Obama. But they have not done that yet which makes Obama believe that to them, they're just willing to cover it just so that they can win this thing. Let me just tell ya, you can't win by ignoring issue's.

There are two reasons that people got upset: #1. The Palin speach, her "hockey moms joke" the comment that every1 and there mother has been talking about? Well, it's WAY too soon for another "lipstick" comment to be used by anyone without people automatically thinking it's a direct bite off of what Palin just said. #2. The crowd took what Obama said as a comment about Palin, RIGHT AFTER HE SAID IT. It wasnt just the cheering, it was the chanting..Listen to them! He should have dismissed it then

This is hilarious! Obama makes a comparison to the Republican Party covering up the issue's here at home, and it get's turned around into him comparing it to Palin. Let's not forget, McCain has been attacking Obama since the beginning and Palin started her bashing on Obama ever since the speech, in which both have said some harsh things toward him. This has been a commonly used political phrase, and he was clearly talking about McCain's policies. I did have respect for McCain, but even attempting to say Obama attacked Palin with this statement shows him to be either an indecent competitor or just dumb. And for all of the Americans that honestly believe Obama was referring to Palin, be proud that you are a living testament to our dire need for educational reform. We honestly need to improve our listening comprehension skills.

The comment is actually worse than what is diplayed here. The next sentence was "You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
That was a reference to McCain. So of all the idioms one can pick, Barack just so happens to pick two that fit the caricatures of his opponents. His audience knew exactly who he was referring to. That is why they were cheering.
