  • this is insane

  • Lean to play any 12 BAR blues. Learn how to make the chord changes.

FORGET SMOOTH JAZZ. It is easy at first, but it is a trap that will destroy your EARS.

Learn to play chord changes, not some endless crap like you just did.

SMOOTH JAZZ will not develop your ear. GET AWAY FROM IT.

Take any Parker tune, and memorize it.

  • Stay the hell away from the SMOOTH JAZZ crap.

It will screw up your ears, because they use three chord rock and roll chords.

Learn to play chord changes over any 12 bar blues, NOT that endless crap you just did here. DO NOT PLAY SMOOTH JAZZ. IT will destroy your EARS.

You want to make chord changes. Not some endless derrivities on a GMAJ7 scale.

  • ckckck KEWL!

  • @Twilight0Princess

    you're right...

  • ur nasty as hell my man. a young mike phillips

  • better than Coltrane? ahahah. nerd!

  • Great video, keep posting this kind of material!

  • how beautiful is the sound of sax!!

really nice to hear this solo, keep on posting

  • Brilliant, how long you been playing for?

  • i heard a few squeaks lol

  • Everybody squeaks every once in a while

  • You just don't sound good! You have no control of the harmonics, so control it first and then use it ...

  • he kicks your ass any day

  • I wanna learn

  • great but stop juming arround

  • comon, it's suck

  • Get a life he kicks your ass

  • sounds good

  • i really like your sound man

  • NIce sound --great energy --- good command --- your phrasing lacks cohesion though . it should flow better

  • is that a tenor sax or wat

  • alto...all day long!

  • nice!

  • 2:28 - I can tell you've been playing some Charlie Parker!

  • Awesome Jazzway

  • wow! :-O

  • this is really good!!!

  • I thought it was okay. You're not following any specific tempo or scale, but you have a nice tone. I'd recommend focusing more on quality of sound and making it more bluesy. You have the control, but playing fast with nothing to follow isn't flattering you're abilities.

  • hey can i ask you a favor jazzway i know you don't play anything but jazz music but can you play the part of the saxophone in the song "never surrender" if you could that will be cool thanx man

  • Great job man! The other people here are just giving you some constructive critisism so don't take it personally.

    Keep it up!

  • você é mutio bom mesmooooooo uau continua assimmmm

  • is that a tenor saxophone

  • sorry``that's Alto saxophone!

  • @jazzway I started learning Alto saxophone any like points that I should know?

  • nah..altough im not a specialist.. ...in my opinion its all over the place...

  • J'aime ta façon de jouer

  • you are reallly really good

  • Dude, This is like David Sanborn on some bad acid trip. Go back and listen to the masters, (ie. Bird, Trane, Cannonball, Dexter, etc.) And even non sax players like Miles, Monk, Mingus, etc. Listen to how they phrase and build the solos. Your blowing at random, You have a nice "funk" type tone, ala Sanborn or Brecker, but your totaly random on your approach to the solo. Theres no melody here.

  • The whole time you are just playing random stuff. You need to put some style into it. Also from 1:50 to 2:01.... please never do anything like that ever again. Put your own little thing into it, add a little vibrato maybe in some held notes, make up some "riffs" or cool sounding sequences of notes that will sound nice when played a lot. It's almost like you are not soloing, but making your own songs with choruses and everything.

  • Did you have a spasm at the beginning of this? chill out for a while

  • Only problem: No sound pyramid. start simple. Rise to more of the the triplet and and chromati licks. Then, come back down to a simple solo. Some times more really is less. You obviously have the range and the scale to play quickly, just solo like you would talk: in an order that makes sense. Great playing otherwise.

  • dobre!

  • you are amazing im not that good but maybe you should try to grow the solo, have a beginning , middle and end! :) cuz having runs the whole thing kind of bores the audience after a while, u gotta add some awesome licks if you know what i mean ;)

  • pretty good

  • learn to not squek

  • hope i can be tht good one day...jazz on...

  • You listen to a lot of that "Smooth" shit don't you?

  • LMAO!!!!!!!

  • man you really good

  • Different style!

Finally, the Jingle bell is so funnily !

  • lol. i love the dancing!

  • They play stuff like that at Panera lozl

  • How do you that jazzy sound?

I've been trying and I just can't get it.

  • just try to bend as much as possible, blow hard and try to focus ur mind in playing that way....

  • Ugh... so wrong it's disgusting.

  • nice verry nice

  • thats not improv thats RANDOM NOTES

ur not following a scale or a scale pattern, youre just playing random stuff at a fast pace....anyone can do that!

but not that bad of tone

  • very nice

  • Hey, he can at least play it to the point where it sounds practically the same as Jazz. I could've done without the 2:00 part though...ow..

  • its just some kid improvising, stop being so snobby about it.

  • OH GOSH !

  • i am in the seventh grade lol i play saxophone alto

  • is that really u????

  • This as been the best thing that i've heard yet. Man, you definitly rock. This is awsome!!!

  • Haha yeah

  • You're saying that because you'll never be able to play the saxophone as good as him, moron.

  • man wat mouthpiece do use

  • nice altissimo sounding

  • oh wow i wish i could improvise like u.Ah been playing since 5 years and STARTING to improvise.:)

  • and am not saying you suck 2 the dude on the vid he owns

  • you suck

  • moron.

  • perfect!

  • You need to follow the changes... really for playing this you didn't need a rythem section because your playing did not follow it. I thought your sound was a bit screechy.. I know you were trying to get a good funk sound but try to soften it up a bit. Loosen up the tongue too. You should work on phrasing your solo rather than spitting out a million notes at the speed of light =)

I think you are great and have potential!

  • ...................................

  • And randomking345 - I'm fifteen, I hadn't updated my channel in ages.

  • Okay! I'm really sorry about this - the comment was my sister on my account! I have never played saxophone in my life!! I had absolutely no idea that she posted that so please don't get mad at me because it honestly is not me!

  • well if it's a fixed camera, you really can't move around too much, and then you just distort the sound, on top of some of the bad quality sound that already is, and it's only one person's interpretation...

  • dude, you're like elementary school sax right? have you ever listened to yourself play cause when i was in 6th grade i sounded horrible. so i really don't think you're in a place to be giving advice. and he's pretty good. he has soul

  • How long have you been playing? Dude you a 12 year old six grader trying to give somebody else advice on how to play the saxophone? Pretty ballzy, but I don't hink that you are in any postion on to give some one else advice when I'm pretty 100% sure that you suck balls at playing the sax. With all due respect.

  • to the 12-yrs-old-know-it-all

he was just feelin the tempo so go home and get lost dude... i mean it...

to the guy that was in the video

i know im not that kind of an expert but dude youve got talent and passion.. keep it up and dont listen to the 12 yr old... he definitely dont know what the f*** he is sayin...

  • your an idiot

you tell him its all sort of look at me i can play the saxophone when your saying oh look at me im 12 years old but im grade 6, no one gives a shit

  • and your page says your 14

  • the technics sre good, but i dont really like the musical ideas for the solo...

  • the new jazz king

  • the new jazz king

  • wow! you're good!

okay i know i sound like a bit of a dork, but what kind of sax is it?

  • Man you play to fast it dosen't sound good sorry

  • J-U-M-P A-R-O-U-N-D.

    lol ;)

  • something new 4 me,and good i think

  • sorry!my buddy!!!

    I don't know why ! I have any new videos ,but I'm in CHINA,I can't upload it~~

  • Like a person said before me, it sounded a bit screechy. I like the monotones and altissimos though. Well, some of the altissimos. It sounded like you had a really bad reed or something.

  • saxophone rocks

  • i'm taking up sax soon

  • I think I liked it. It seemed so... I don't know. Really good runs, but I didn't like the tone, it semmed, screechy. Get a good tone, and then, well, you would be a-m-a-z-i-n-g! But it was descent. And to all the people that are going to give me bad responses, I do play the saxophone, and no, I couldn't play a solo like that, but personally I didn't like the tone. So don't give me the "oh, then if you think your so good, try it crap." Thanks!

  • DUDE!!!

that was amazing i have played alto and tenor for 3 years and that was amazing!!! good job

  • That is some sax playing

  • awesome! im gonna learn the sax soon!

im a guitarist, but sax looks lots of fun.

  • muy bueno

  • I don't think this person is playing at all. Listen and watch at 1:30. You hear a note and he has the instrument away from his mouth. I may be wrong. You decide.

  • *sigh*

Audio and video are out of synch. This is a common problem on YouTube.

  • u itiot he he plays really well u wish u had a life

  • I was talking to you... dont know why it shows up there I replied to you... but w/e

  • wat?

  • Awesome opposum! I cant even play that good (fact I'm a beginner) !!!

  • hey man i think u are good ! and i wish i can play as well as you !!!

  • Learn to vibrato, then we'll talk. I dont want to hear that high note without a vibrato ever again. kthx.

  • Vibrato isn't even that hard. I'm not nearly as good as this guy but I think it's fair to say basing the whole song on one note is ridiculous. His technical skills are unbelievable! But yeah listening to it now it does sound pretty bad.

  • don't listen to nedmannxxx, he cant even support his claim. but your tone is pretty bright, ill admit its fairly shrill at points. you seem to have very quick fingers, but musically you're lacking a sustainable melodic form, like what claridiva was talking about. my advice to you, keep listening to jazz, study all the scales, arpeggios, minor scales, blues scales, harmonics, penatonics, everything.

  • thanks!!buddy!~~~

     I will do it!~~

  • i dont know what to say...hurts the ears...sounds like a damn scalded dog

  • i'm really impressed w/ your playing!

my only comment is that a solo should have a form to it. almost like telling a story. musical pyrotechnics will only hold people's attention for so long before it starts to sound like noise. music works in a wave pattern. it has a beginning a climax and an ending like many great things in life. its all about phrasing. start out simple and build from there. keep up the good work!

  • Jeezy peezy, I wish I could play my Sax that well!

  • Fusion jazz. I've heard it before. I actually call it "loco" jazz. LMAO! Let me guess. U work for one of those underground jazz clubs in the Bronx?? ;D

My late grandpa was also a sax player.

  • Phrasing please.

  • no way. :-o

  • pssh, yeah right...

  • dude u got soul

  • lol tahts sweet it sounded like you were playing jingle bells near the end lol

  • k kkrak

  • Amazing solo. Very intense, and you mostly stayed in Key which is always nice for the ears. keep up the good work!

  • Thousand notes, fast solo

    but this make any sense

have no feeling and consistant melody

  • who are you to judge

  • someone that plays better than it....

he does not know what he is doin'

    a real mess

  • kewl..

    i play da alto 2

    well im learning

  • you should try starting off slow and build up to a climax and back down like a book, it sounds better and you dont run out of ideas as easily

  • wo.i justed started the band at my school im alto sax your my hero.hmm.you should aspire to become like Kenn G.LOl.

  • yes it is an alto!!!

  • I just dont feel a steady fill for this. Its a little off tempo and all over the place, and even though I cant hear the music, doesnt seam like it fits quite right. Keep it up, playing the sa rules. Some of it sounds great!

  • is that an alto?

  • wow, theres some good stuff, but i cant hear a song in it...sounds a little random, try writing a tune w/ changes and sticking to the changes

  • ive tryed to make up my own song and it sounded like crap nice playing though!

  • Having filmed yourself and putting yourself out here alone is worth a complement on it's own. You're already trying to create your own sound I here, keep it up.

I do like to advise switching to at the least another mouth piece (otto link or what have ya) for the high notes sound really flat and metallic. Also try practising more on your breath controle so you won't have to take such long stops between riffs. Overall... nice ideas, nice technique... keep it going.

    greetz! Diesel.

  • wow i wish i was that good i mean i was a tennor first but then i sucked and my teacher made me switch and i love the alto and i wish i can be good as u.....ASOME

  • you make me look bad :P

i started with the alto, but then i had to switch to tenor, cus idk why :)

    keep it up, you're good.

  • I liked most of it.

I wasn't crazy about how you started off though.

Zeppelfloyd, I don't believe you when you say that you have playing sax for 7 years. You seem like one of those people who goes around leaving comments on peoples videos about how much they suck and that you are better. Dick..

  • wow tu gere tro combien d'années derriere toi ???

  • Wow

  • dude you sound awesome, but to much of smooth jazz sound. dont know if ur trying to do that. try tweaking the notes and getting a growl in. but other wise keep it up

  • omg send me the note

  • pretty good but cant u play any faster? its really choppy and u cant play any smooth flowing lines without having to stop. not trying to be critical i;m just saying listen to some parker or coltrane to how they string phrases together instead of choppiness. nice sound though.

  • PEOPLE!!!

IT IS ***ILLEGAL*** to photocopy/ reproduce sheet music! Go buy it.

  • pleeeasee send me the notess!!!

  • Please post sheet music for this.

  • you like our show!!

  • Can you post the sheet music for this solo?

  • maybe not so much rapid vibrato? and a little spacing, like a half rest every now and then. Or are your just showing us what you can do. You are pretty good though!

  • its an alto and dont puff ur cheeks. =X

  • nice... a little more phrasing cuoold be used but nice job. only two years??? any previous experience on anything else?

btw i noticed you do alot of movement as do I. its good but i would keep it a little less up and downish. then again thats just me

  • Good "pop" sound. Less notes, more music. Make sure what you're playing make sense with what/who you're playing with. Eventhough you're just playing to a recording, you still have to play "with" it

  • dude this is awesome. i'm an alto sax player myself but i dont think i could ever compare to this! great job! ♪♫♪♫♪♫

  • you're good man dont listen to these jerks

  • technically you're fine, but you need more phrasing...

  • dang dude stil got long waaays

  • the difference between them is that the alto is smaller and the tenor is larger

  • i thinks its an alto cuz its small

  • sorry man..but I had to turn it off at 2mins. Couldn't help it.

  • Damn man, couple of mistakes in there, but I wish I could play like that, but hell I only just started about 2 years ago. I should be able to play like that though.

  • Mastering an instrument is a marithon not a sprint. Everyone learns differently. Don't be hard on yourself.

  • ummmmm...it takes time to be able to play like that. 2 years is definetly not long enough. so dont go beating yourself up about it. k?

  • Awesome

  • Get your timing right, and you'll be great. Keep it up, you've got a future ahead of you.

  • Dude Have a sence of time, Great sound though.

  • Dude, have a SENSE of spelling.
