@0819Marlene The song is from the LP "Cherished" which was released in 1977 and most likely was about Gregg. The video on the other hand, was made to show people their wonderful child Elijah, as many Cher lovelies were not around yet when this song and album were recorded. Enjoy!

However, children and the love we have for them still endures. For that reason, the Video I created is dedicated to Elijah. There were many CHER fans who were not yet born when Elijah was born. That is why I made the video. Many do not recall the romance and his birth and her life, during this period.

Marriages sometimes end, but the children & the memories last forever. For those who were AROUND then...Many were not even born yet.

I think you're wrong. This song wasn't dedicated to anybody. Cher only wrote, sang and dedicated the song "Too Far Gone" to Gregg Allman. It's on her 1979 album "Take Me Home". This is from her 1977 "Cherished" album. Nice song though!

I'm sorry. This is not the song which you are referring to, "Island." There are at least 2version of songs named "Island," to which you refer. Someone told me CHER wrote the version on Allman & Woman under a pen-name. There is another version on one of Gregg Allman's releases with the same title that he wrote, along with some others, from what I understand. I also heard that song was for his daughter Island, as well. Thanks!

Yes, originally, CHER did record this to dedicate to Gregg. My reasons for dedicating it to Elijah are addressed, if you click "View All Comments" you will discover. Also, the "More Info" on top right. My intent is to introduce Elijah to the many, often younger, group who did not recall or experience the period when CHER & Gregg were together. In my promoting, I discovered many who were not aware CHER & Gregg had a son.

As one of the writers of this song I was really surprised to see this video since it wasn't a very well known song at the time. The real story is that the song was originally written as "She Was Beautiful". When the producer heard it, he felt that it would be perfect to describe Cher's relationship with Gregg if we changed it to "He Was Beautiful". Naturally we were thrilled to do it.
