  • NIce, dig the Los Lobos riff at about 1:30, shakin shakes right?

  • Good ears, my friend! You are the only one who has spotted that! Nice work....GB

  • Someone else may have already asked you this, but can you tell me what model that Washburn is? Is it one of the recent parlor guitars? It sounds fantastic. By the way, your playing, touch, dynamics, rhythm and singing are all superb. A revelation.

  • Sorry...not sure which model it is...don't think it's considered a parlor guitar--it's about 10 years old...thought it was called a "bluegrass" guitar but who knows...not even sure what that means....thanks for your fine comments and compliments!!! GB

  • Would really love to see you do "Before the bullets fly" ...great stuff you do...thanks for sharing...

  • Thank you...appreciate the comment...GB

  • Really loved it. Wish I could play as well. Sing too!

  • Thanks Zbert!

  • That was nice man!

  • Thank you! GB

  • Thanks!!! GB

  • Thanks Durwood! I appreciate that. I play very little slide. I've done a bit on my cds when I've had time to work some parts out but I'm certainly not a natural at it. I love the sound of it, though...always have....thanks for watching....GB

  • Greg, man oh man, you just knocked my socks off. Had to send this link to my buddy who introduced me to the Allman Bros YEARS ago. He's got no socks on now too!! Great emotion, great drive...just downright FUN!!! Thanks!!!!

  • Wow! Thanks jr...I really appreciate the compliments....as you've guessed, I'm a definite Allman Brothers fan so your comment means a lot to me...hope you'll keep watching....GB

  • Sorry Charlie.

  • You put a fresh twist and a great voice onto one of my favorite songs! Awesome

  • Thanks JMarie...I appreciate that...take care...GB

  • Oh Wow! Did you have to sell your soul to the devil to be able to play like that? I never knew this song could sound so good acoustic.

  • No selling of the soul, Gilligan---that happens AFTER you get signed!! Aw snap. Seriously, just practice, man, practice...take care and thanks for watching....GB

  • man that RIPS! takes a REALLY great REALLY old song and gives it some new life. Now if you excuse me I am going to google you and find more of your music.

    Peace

  • Thanks Vert...google on, my friend...I'm easy to find....cds anyone???? GB

  • Thanks...and yes, standard tuning. "G" is a great key to play things in as it gives you some open strings and 3rd fret things. Nice rhyme, huh? Thanks again....GB

  • Wow, you're awesome

  • Thanks man...I appreciate that...GB

  • good stuff man. you've got real skills, both in guitar and singing especially

  • Thanks Augie...that's a really nice compliment! I appreciate it....GB

  • Man your guitar playing is very unique, cool sound. Your singing is spot on too. No copy cat stuff with you.

  • TomTom...thanks man...I'm glad you think so...hope you'll keep watching when you can....GB

  • Greg, Well I've seen "great Job" Great Cover" Great Pickin' etc and I agree with all of those but what I really liked was your apparent love of what you are doing. I play because I love it and GOd has given me to talent. Thank you for sharing your love with us here.

  • Thanks Licks...I appreciate the kind words....GB

  • sup bro. ballin cover. i know the pickin part but what are the main chords behind it so when a buddy and I jam he can play the chords and we can sing it. any help would be awesome. out.

  • It's just a 1-4-5 in the key of G...so that's G-C-D...I use very typical 9ths and 7ths to make it a bit more bluesy...hope this helps...glad you liked it...have fun....GB

  • Great feel playing dude, but I'm sorry to say, the feel of THIS particular song ain't there. Listen to the slower, chugging, shuffle of the Fillmore version -- the constantly moving rhythnm, like surf waves, but constantly coming on instead of in sets. You've got more of a Stevie Ray vibe into this when it demands a Allman vibe. SLow it down. Do it again in a slower shuffle time. You'd sound awesome.

  • Pazure...I really appreciate your honest critique but you assume I'm trying to copy the Fillmore version. I am not. I am taking an incredible 6-MAN BAND version and making it my OWN with one guitar. No easy task. This is one take on one particular day. Some nights, I've probably played it with the vibe you're looking for--that's the beauty of live music. Incidently, I've never heard the Allman Brothers Band match the Fillmore version again either. Thanks again for your comments...GB

  • I dig the interpretation. I imagine if Greg/Dicky were pulling this song off on a parlor guitar they might come up with something similar. Sounded good to me.

  • Right on, brother! Thanks...GB

  • There ain't just one way of covering songs...sometimes covers with renewed beat or taste become great success..just like Allman Brothers' one of this particular song...

This one cover has some great funky taste(and this song is anything but easy to render on solo acoustic guitar I think) and some good bending in the singing giving the sliding feeling...Great job!

  • Well said....and thanks! GB

  • Hey greg: As a musician who tries to study music, one by going on you-tube and looking for different styles of playing. Its amazing to see some of the comments people make. The cover you just did is a cover of a cover, of wich none sound alike. Music is not on a record it between the ears. Great job on Greg Boerners cover of a very old blues song.

  • Thanks! You get it!!! I appreciate the listen and the comment....GB

  • Thanks Dave...I appreciate you tuning in...hope you'll check back...GB

  • NICE!!!!

  • Thanks!!!! GB

  • Excellent loved your cover

  • Thanks Hotmapper...hope you'll stay tuned....GB

  • Mark...thanks again for the wonderful compliments...I'm doin' my best to keep that Georgia thing goin'...thanks for watching...GB

  • Excellent!!! Great voice...and I love the guitar accompaniment!!!

  • Thanks Skydog! From your name I will go out on a limb and presume you are a Duane Allman fan...me too...thanks for watching....GB

  • Wow, exceptional talent my man. You've got great rythm, presence and sense of self. Vocals are great too. thanks for sharing your work, you're an inspiration.

  • Thanks again, Arch....really kind words...hope you'll keep watching....GB

  • Very original arrangement- I really enjoyed this- thanks

  • Thanks Ol'68...I appreciate that....GB

  • sweeeeeet!!!! *really* nicely done, play dem blues, boy! :)))

ps: I've heard versions where Gregg sang at the end: "...might be your husband, I don't know" and "...might be a detective, I don't know" )

  • Thanks man...I like those "new" lines...very cool...I think I'll have to steal 'em...."might be omast, I don't know"...I appreciate the comment....GB

  • this is awesome bro

  • Thanks Dawg...I appreciate that! GB

  • i'm a big fan of the ABB, but this acoustic version is really awesome. i have subscribed to you my friend. keep it on, you're great.

  • Thanks Emi....the original version by the boys is one of my all-time faves...I still get chills when I hear it...thanks for watching and certainly for subscribing...I appreciate it....GB

  • Thanks Davie..."glad you dug it" (hip musician lingo I've just discovered)....GB

  • I've never seen anyone cover this great song like this. Nice job!

  • Thanks...but are you sure???

  • He sure fills a lot of musical space with just one acoustic guitar. It almost like he has a drummer helping drive the song on.

  • There is a drummer--he's hiding behind the piano...Thanks Dan...GB
