I see no advantage at all to Obama in picking Kaine. The conventional wisdom is VA is in play, and Kaine will help bring it. But...I watched David Gregory's show last night, and they were adamant that Kaine is strong in those areas of VA that Obama will already win. Kaine cannot bring Obama the VA votes he needs...white male, blue collar, etc.

I won't vote for Obama, but I'd love to see him pick Jim Webb. The only downside for Obama is that Webb is too outspoken and too moderate for the base.

I'm with you on Kaine not being ":the Guy." Even the most enthusiastic Obamaniac has to want a steady hand somewhere in the White House. Kaine appears to be an empty suite, and there's already one too many of those in this race.

And Webb is a fruitcake, the guy has written half of a dozen books, all of which include detailed descriptions of VERY kinky sex and even child rape. CRK

I think the idea is that some people, maybe older white people, might vote for "Kaine" thinking he is McCain. But really Barack should pick someone more in line with his values and beliefs, although that is hard because Mao,Stalin,etc are dead. Mugabe would be a good choice but I doubt he'll leave his dictatorship to join Barack's. Maybe Fidel because he is old and so there won't be a chance of him usurping Obama's personality cult.

actually the word on the street is that Obama is leaning towards Rev.Pfleger. They say that Rev.Wright,although he is Obama's best friend and spiritual mentor and they agree on all issues, is also black and they are looking for a white communist radical to balance the ticket. Hence Rev.Pfleger.

bad choice i dont know why obama is doing this , national security and foriegn exprience is one of the key issues in this election . kaine will only destroy the ticket and bring nothing to it

Agreed. I think that the Obama Campaign see's a better chance of winning in VA than in OH, and VA Dem Senator Jim Webb is a fruitcake, so they went w/Kaine.

No candidate could increase excitement around Obama, so if Kaine doesn't hurt him, that's as much as an Obama supporter could hope for. CRK

McSame Have more exprience than this two combined togther , exprience will sure be an issue against obama if he selected kaine and he will spend alot of time in the campaign explaining that it doesnt matter :) , when obama loses VA in the elections he will regret this decision same as when kerry regreted chosing Edwards after he lost NC

Edwards is, and always has bee a joke. But. his selection mirrors the logic which went into picking Kaine. Dems want to present a young, attractive ticket, with as little dirt as possible. In short, an empty, albeit expensive suit.

VA is more in play than you're giving it credit. It was the Christian Conservatives which tipped VA to Bush the past 2 elections. But that crew is uninspired by McCain, and they may stay home or even vote for Dr. Brown of the Constitution Party. CRK
