I would have tried to help her distract the child. The baby can't help it. Had she smacked his bottom she would have been arrested. What was she supposed to do?
What? Did I hear correctly? The airline gave the mother a $300 travel voucher for having that obnoxious, loud, disruptive kid? She was rewarded for causing all that disruption. OMG. Sure, give her a full refund coz the airline kicked her off, but, hey ,don't reward loud, disruptive behaviour. A pat on the back to the airline for kicking off that brat. We pay a lot of money to fly and our comfort is important. Mothers of loud, obnoxious brats should catch a coach!!
I'm a soon to be dad in June and am absolutely refusing to take my child on a plane until he/she its a surprise :) learns how to maintain composure and isn't a shithead basically in public. I know when i fly anywhere and baby junior sonuvabitch two rows up cries the whole fucking trip, it gets annoying. I refuse to be that parent!! Teach your children manners and respect for other people!!!!
when my kids were little i hesitated to go to the mall because they weren't totally civilized yet. but a bus? a plane? it would have to be a REAL emergency for me to have traveled with a small child...i mean a real emergency.
Spoiled monster kids rule today, after all, the law mkes it illegal to do much except time-out, when the kid needs a good slap on the ass with a bare hand. 1 slap. It worked for me. Kids now seem to recognize no authority at all. No wonder the world is filled with so much crime.
once on a flight a little kid didn't cry and scream but she did run up and down the aisle...ever now and then stopping at my seat to gaze at me and babble...i don't think your kid is cute. i don't like to be handled by anyone. i don't want to be treated like the wicked witch if i don't oooo and ahhh over your little turd.
I can't have any complaint with the airline and although she can be concerned with her child, the airline has a responsibility to their passengers. If she knows her child is prone to such behavior, perhaps she might consider using another mode of travel (such as a car) in the future. Not the fastest way, but it accomplishes the means.
She should be compenstaed for any expenses incurred due to being kicked off the flight - that was the airline's call - but nothing more.
Wow. You must be an expert on human behavior. I mean, you can tell whether a woman has parenting skills based on 10 seconds of her speaking and 50 seconds of watching her with her child!
Having raised a housefull of children, I know that how a child behaves is a good barometer of how the parents do their job.
In over 32 years of traveling for business, I've been on thousands of flights with children.....99% of whom are well-behaved and under the control of the parent.
When a child is out of control and unable to be calmed by the parent...there is a supposition that it's not just airline flights where this happens.
her child was uncontrollable on a flight and she wants to be compensated?! most flights are pretty miserable anyway but two things that are really unbearable are being next to someone smelly and a crying child. doesnt sound like she was very prepared for the flight with this kid, others dont need to suffer because she has a cryer on her hands.
perfect. if you cannot control your child stay the fuck home! this was the right decision all around. get her off the plan for consideration of everyone else and refund her money because of the decision that they made. bravo southwest. like she said herself...when you have small children you have to focus on them and not on anyone else. this is sub standard parenting and everyone else who hasn't the clue how to raise their children need to be treated the same. again, bravo southwest.
Finally a stupid kid gets booted off a plane. Of course SouthWest doesn't stand behind their decision and refunds the broad her money (plus a travel voucher). How much do you want to bet that she's going to try and sue?
why not just have family flights? why does a single person opinion weigh in more than a family persons who are more patient and tolerant of screaming kids? i think kids have the right to fly too without those conditions being forced upon them. this is unfair and should be addressed. at least she got a refund.
Freakin spoiled ass kids today,, bus stops LITERALLY EVERY 10 FEET NOWADAYS!!!!!!! SHIT I walked my ass a mile to school every day,,NOT COMPLAINING I had to do it, but the system is trying to eliminate DISCPILINE today, and its proven that serial killers are the type of guys who were always handed candy and never told "no" as an infant. If I threw a fit in public, my mouth AND my ass would be sore,,,,, and the lady gets a REFUND??!! SHIT,, refund those that were LATE to their business meetings
Her little darling was screaming loud enough to disrupt the flight attendants safety speech. The safety speech they are required by law to give.
Im sure SW sees 100s of misbehaving children a day, and very few are asked to leave. They dont make this type of decision easily. It takes a lot of work to turn a plane around, open it back up, re-compress, and lose their spot in line to take off. That child must have been disruptive as hell to warrant this type of response.
It's just a child. Every kid is afraid of riding an airplane because of terrorism or plane crash.
Are you saying everyone should keep their mouth shut in the plane and act like 1930 NAZI germany? Oh yeah... this country is full of shit and stupid ass socialist.
SOCIALIST. This country is going doomsday on 2012.
WHO is telling a child, A CHILD about terrorism and plane crashes. Doomsday has already hit your Country thanks to people like you. Lv Ya, a stupid ass socialist.
@dogloverblue I agree. I feel for parents with children who are traveling, but you cant excuse that if safety is concerned. They must have felt terrible about the decision but I am sure the mother could have done much more to calm him down. Most likely this was not an isolated behavioral incident and he has acted this way before.
I think it's good they got kicked off. Kids are irritating especially at that age. You have to spank them she probably doesn't do that so the kid thinks he can act the way he does with her with everyone else.
She couldn't have spanked the kid if she wanted to. The last time a parent spanked her children on a flight to get them to behave, she was charged under the Terrorist act. As far as I know, she's still not allowed to see her children to this very day.
That sucks. Everything's bedcoming a crime now a days. She should spank his butt at home that way she won't be getting kicked off. But now a days everyone's in everyone elses business just waiting to get you locked up. There's no privacy rights anymore.
I have three kids myself, and I've traveled long distances with them, so I know how kids can get antsy and cranky. But to get kicked off a plane? That kid must of thrown a real big shit storm for that. How can you not control one child? I don't understand.
The funny thing is, she said she has to do what's best for the child and not worry about what others think. That's swell, but that little attitude got her kicked off.
or both lmao. i agree though what the heck was the kid doing to get them kicked off? and why didn't she stop it. if she's worried about people seeing her spank the kid and get social services called then take the kid to the bathroom and beat his ass. though i bet more than half of the people on there would of given her a medal.
so what kids should be put up with the luggage? not allowed to fly at all? i get the flight safety procedure concern but for ppl to slam the boy. how petty. ppl forget they were all kids too and did the exact same thing. i hope they all feel just great for belittling a child. way to go adults.
I have no problem having the mom and her screaming kid kicked off the plan. We who don't have screaming kids have to put up with them in the mall, public work places etc. I don't want to be cooped up in an enclosed area with a screaming brat!

When it comes to young minors (infants, toddlers) society should be indulgent to situations like this (when they throw a tantrum, cry, etc.)
We are all in this together - those are all our children, in a sense. We impose upon one another by way of being a society.
It says something about someone's character (or really, lack thereof) that they don't have any patience for a little child's cries.
