  • He didn't even know Mary and Flo's name.

  • They need to bring this show back! It seems like a fun game to play!

  • It's so crazy to see these music legends at a time when they were too recent to be legends, and were the current music that day.

  • She didn't even know what to answer, pretty voice, not very bright.

  • Diana was STUNNINGLY beautiful!!!

  • Oh Suzy.......u r a plastic piece of....

  • Barry Gordie tried to pick me up a few times in NYC. He likes boys And girls.

  • that would have been funny if flo had run out and got the seat before diana

  • Diana Ross has very neat writing!

  • I wonder what ever happened to them? Has anyone ever been able to find out more about Supremes? After all, the monumental failure of rock and roll to influence post-war America makes it hard to know just what became of these obscure groups....... o_O

  • They all three were leading ladies and no talent will ever come along to replace the magic they created in general. Thanks for posting!

  • I think she was peeking under her mask...watch it again

  • This very interesting Whats My Line? appearance is from the "1966" not 1965 I remember because Diana is wearing an exact dress that I had previousely bought my self it was beige with gold trimmings (even on black-white tv, I am sure it was also same colors as mine).

  • Wow, great video, they were living dolls.

  • LOVE!!! Florence Ballard (RIP) ...look at her @2:03 when Mr Daly tells Diane she ain't no leading lady! Taps Mary's hand ...like saying HA HA!

    The Supremes

  • dianne stole the spotlight from this badly. orginally flo who had the group . mary and flo were firends until dianne came and took over .

  • LOL @ Flo's mannerisms got ot wonder what she would've been like if she'd be still alive

  • Why does Diana Ross get to sit?

  • @ucagetit I was thinking the same thing. I know Diana is the lead singer and all but they could've at least gotten seats for Mary & Flo; I thought that was very rude and very "ungentleman-like" of the crew which I feel like were more than likely all men

  • @awarren92 They did this all the time when they had mutiple guests. If you watch the episode with The McQuire sisters they don't have seats for all three.

  • Diane's got nice handwriting

  • Did Diana say to John at the end "you should come see us?" And John's reply was "no?" Odd how they were treated. Not one gentleman/gentlewoman embrassed them, kissed their cheek, hand nothing. I find it odd really odd.

  • @575391 it was the 1960s, they weren't exempt to bigotry just because of their celebrity status.

  • Diana Shoud not have opened her ignorant mouth answering "oui"to the wrong questions. so embarrassing to black people

  • Diana is so fierce here

  • HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW THE SUPREMES NAMES?!?!? ESPECIALY DIANNA! :O

  • What year is this from?

  • I could not be in a group! Diana gets to sit down while the others stand and she runs the group. It would have to wear down on your soul.

  • Wow This was the frist time I have ever scene African Americans on Whats my line? It was about time!

  • @nickelwindow53 Not true. People like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Sammy Davis Jr., and Pearl Bailey were on earlier than this, plus I'm sure I've seen others whose names are escaping me...not to mention the occasional non-celebrity contestant.

  • @roots66 aw, i didnt know. I will check those episodes. I know when the brought the 70s version back there were African Americans. I will look for the earlier episodes.

  • @roots66 Lena Horne, Dihann Carroll, Eartha Kitt, Joe Louis etc etc

  • @roots66 joe louis and sugar ray robinson and ralph bunche and many others/ people are often shocked at how many people of color who apperared on tv back in the sixties, they just don't remember

  • @roots66 Nat King Cole was on also.

  • @roots66 Nat King Cole, Wilt Chamberlain, Lena Horne, Floyd Patterson, to name a few more.

  • @nickbigd and Mahalia Jackson, Marian Anderson, Jesse Owens, Mohammed Ali -- all viewable on youtube.

  • @roots66 also Mahalia Jackson, Marian Anderson, Leontyn Price.

  • @roots66 Also Roy Campenella, Harry Belafonte and Wilt Chamberlain, to name 3 other previous African American MG's.

  • @roots66 other notable celebrities were Lena Horne, Eartha Kitt, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Mahalia Jackson, just to name a few.

  • @roots66 I found the ones with Mahalia Jackson and Jesse Owens ( the one with him was especially moving)...Sammy did it a few times...one of my favorits

  • @roots66 wow so I guess this show broke barriers for the time when blacks were not on tv

  • @roots66 Jesse Owens, Muhammed Ali, Rochester, Floyd Paterson

  • @mikelheron20 Eartha Kitt

  • @mikelheron20 Sugar Ray Robinson

  • @mikelheron20 The Harlem Globe Trotters - I rest my case.

  • @nickelwindow53 I guess you missed the prior shows with Eartha Kitt, Sammy Davis Jr., Lena Horne, Louis Armstrong etc. etc. etc.

  • @nickelwindow53 Nat King Cole was also on

  • @nickelwindow53 we could add lena horne eartha kitt and leontyne price :]

  • ALL of the girls exude radiance on the show. Flo has such a beautiful smile. I can't keep my eyes off of her.

  • I would do anything to go back 45 years just to hang out with these girls for a day. They are absolutely gorgeous and have so much personality.

  • Oui? hahaha i didnt know they did the show twice

  • Their song playing on the radio then was My World is Empty Without You.

  • Baby love........

  • fuck..you can tell every white person in there is goddamn shady...racist fuckers....

  • @blackvenomnicole Somehow I'm missing out on that perception.

  • @strandwolf isn't it amazing the things that people find that aren't there?

  • I NEVER SAW THIS ONE BEFORE. SO MANY SUPREME'S PERFORMANCES PLEASE MORE VIDEO !

  • Flo was sexy as hell!

  • @AggiePrideATL Indeed!

  • Thanks for posting. I didn't know they were on there twice.

  • flo was by far the most beautiful supreme of all times.

  • Flo does indeed nudge Mary after Diana's answer. Flo looks around for a second to see if anyone is looking then nudges Mary's hand at 2:06. Lol it was really funny and Diana's sitting there just a grinning.

  • @stu0812 yes! I seen that too! Diana being the DIVA ....leading lady? lmao

    Flo didn't think so.

  • Calvin375...anything and everything I could find on the Supremes I've read. I have quite a few books and scrap books from yester year. Florence was something else but you know its amazing the three different individual personalities that became Supremes. Florence seemed to be really irritated with Diana and her single minded ways. Mary dealt with it but Flo spoke out and lost in the end.

  • I didn't catch that little part where Flo slightly nudge Mary and Mary looks down and Flo then smiles after the leading lady explanation. Now that was classic. Diana really thought it was all about her and you can tell when the girls first sign on she stood there for a second engulfing the applause. Whew...she must've been hell to deal with when the group became famous.

  • @Vincent50 I saw that nudge the first time and had to play it back to see if I saw what I thought I saw and I laughed to myself! Have you ever read any of the books?!!! She was hell on wheels!!!

  • they were looking good here. Ms. ross was so charming

  • Didn't these girls go to school? The host had to keep correcting their answers.

  • I would have laughed SO much if one of the panelists stood up when they found out who it was and said "AHHH THE SUPREMES!, I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN!!!"

  • being that i was 9 when this came out i probably was off some where playing. lol ..i dont remember this.

  • This is such a clear video . . . the best I've seen so far . . . thanks much for the share.

  • p.s. the girls were so classy here . . . . so sophisticated . . . and they were so young. FABULOUS!!

  • Don't mean to be negative, but why is it that each one of the Supremes are able to generate more charisma in this little few minute clip than most artists are today with all of their dancers and pyrotecnics in a two hour show. Maybe I'm just old.

  • Flo has such a sexy voice. lol! :D

  • This is from 1966 so I was mistaken to think it was from 1965. I like how the guy next to Arlene Francis is fancinated by Mary and he is all smiles with her and chatting a few words to her before he gets to Flo. They all look beautiful but Mary seem to draw the men as she always had.

  • February 27,1966 Lana Tuner was the other Mystery Guest.

  • I have an overwhelming urge to hear some Supremes songs, don't you?

  • Wow! I just Got Butterflies

  • Damn they look sexy!

  • WOW!!! I haven't seen this since 1965. I mean, wow, they look SUPREME.

  • ROFL @ the way Flo said the french word for yes!

  • yes, that was very funny.

  • That made me laugh as well!

  • Wait omg I just realised, this is a different appearance on the same show! Aww so cute

  • OMG THE QUALITY! I have never seen this in such high quality OMG!! Floo!

  • Damn Flo.

  • Thanks for the upload.I wasn't aware that they had an earlier appearence on What's My Line.A regular panelist Dorothy Kilgallen died in Nov.,1965.and this must be after this.A lot of speculation concerning her death, but this would be a distraction.

  • Also how hilarious is it that Dian(e) can't resist saying she's "a leading lady" when that's obviously not even what the guy meant, haha.

  • Good to see you back honeh.

  • lol

  • LOL i must admit i found that hilarious!!!!!

  • Did you notice Flo didnt like the "oui" from Diana on the "a leadling lady question....@2:03 look Flo tapping Mary's arms..and looking like what the F*ck she say....then going into the million dollar smile.

  • @supremes1964 are you seeing things? Flo didn't tap anyone. I can't stand when people add drama that's clearly not there. Especially when it comes to the Diana camp versus the Flo camp.

  • @Sixtiesfreak there was a nudge

  • @supremes1964 I looked for what you said and I didn't see it at all. I must be blind!

  • @PatrickLHawkins ...look closer on Flo @2:00-07 wasn't happy and taps Mary ...even Mary looks down. then, Flo goes into the million dollar smile.

    Flo (RIP) 1943-1976

    LOVE THE SUPREMES....

  • @supremes1964 I finally saw what your were referring too. And I guess it's possible. But to me it looks like Flo moved her arm and just happened to brush against Mary and Mary looked down. But I never saw Flo look at Mary, She did however smile. But as we all well know Diana was a Diva and even then considered herself a Leading Lady. I think by this time there was some animosity, especially between Flo and Diana. Too bad we can't get Mary to tell us what really happened that night.

  • @PatrickLHawkins ...not my intent to make something of nothing. Flo looks beautiful here and there was Animosity I agree.. yet the Supremes continued to shine thur July 1, 1967 until Flo got fired.

    Love the Supremes!

  • @supremes1964 Flo was fired a week after Reflections was released, so that would be July 29th

  • @ no doubt she was fired.....she didn't like the DIANA ROSS and the Supremes backup singers crap! She refused and lost.

  • @supremes1964 i saw it! :-O its kinda shocking to see that i dunno why i guess cuz it was so long before my birth and ive only heard stories about arguments in this band, usually its not talked about much when i look around or ask around of my parents or older people who were alive then

  • @supremes1964 once Mr Daly said NO, to the "leading lady" question! Flo tapped at Mary like wanting to saying " HA! Diane, a leading lady? hell no!

  • @supremes1964 YEAP I SAW THAT LOOK SHE GAVE... SHE WAS MAD

  • This one must have come before the other one that's on YouTube, before the girls realized their voices are wayyy too easily distinguishable! Mary's soft "oui..." and Flo's confident (nasally?) "OUI." I loved this, thanks for uploading, great quality :-)

  • @bcoombs1988 Yes. This appearance is from 1965, while the other What's My Line appearance is from 1967.

  • @Supremes59 - This is actually from 1966

  • @soulballad Thanks!

  • Talk about awkward confusion. Everyone's giving different answers. I want Diana's wig.

  • Mary Wilson looks super gorgeous!

  • Diana was introduced as "Diane" Ross.

  • That's why this show went off the air.

  • It's my understanding that she was still going by "Diane" at the time, but soon enough would adopt Diana. Apparently Diana is the name on her birth cert though...

  • @ronnykmarshall No... WML went off the air in primetime because of its already long run... the longest of all game shows 17 years. And don't forget its return in daytime, so.....

  • I'm sure Mary didn't like to have to stand while Diana sat. That's for sure!

  • Do a Google search of "What's My Line" Supremes and

you can find a photograph that someone took from audience level of the Supreme's shaking hands with panel and

behind them an unusual view of the contestant entrance with the rarely-seen-on-TV What's My Line banner (with cartoon plumber) above the entrance. I can think of only twice that it showed up in all the years WML was broadcast on Sunday nights.
