it's so crazy how you can say the most romatic things had have it come off so creeper (jud) or say the simplest things and have it be sooo sweet (Curly). the guy who played Jud in this is a fantastic actor you don't know whether to feel bad for him or totally hate him. and don't get me started on Hugh! He makes such a charming Curly!

This scene really shows Hugh Jackman's talent as an actor. All the little things people (and actors) don't always realize make the scene. Like the downward, almost apologetic look after his kisses her, and the "whew" breath he lets out at 5:10 and plenty of other lovely things. :) And it seems he jumped off the second "seat" just to get her to laugh again. In fact, his whole proposal is like a really good way to distract her from Judd and get something out of it ta boot. xD
