  • Looks like Japan DOES have an answer to the Veena after all.

  • @darekinho13 Get a free add-on from Firefox called downloadhelper.

  • Really good demonstration of how the left hand manipulates the pitch for each string. Honestly I didn't know it did that. Such a freaking beautiful instrument.

  • starway to heaven please...

Viva led zeppelin y la revolucion

  • WTF HER FINGER !!! Oo XD

  • her fingers Ô.o 0:16<--- her left hand with the fingersÔ.o

  • @lolhcd lmfaooo that is soo disturbing bendy back fingers O_o

  • @ilovetails123

Bendy fingers like that are actually quite common in Japan. I've even seen some men with similar fingers. But... yeah I gotta agree with you. Lol.

  • @MatthewGKBestLand haha it been ages since i watched them bendy fingers lol your comment made my day

  • I've heard it being called 6 variations - maybe that's more accurate?

  • Rokudan is literally 6 parts--hence the name. Regarding the speed of the piece, this is not a "professional" speed, although it is definitively an excellent except. Rather, this is the actual speed of the **4th** part of Rokudan, however it's less famous than the first, which is much more prevalently heard. Rokudan's first three parts are played quite slowly compared to the 4th, 5th and half of the 6th--where it returns to original speed. Which is slow.

  • she is good. im learning koto and im a canadian. its a really nice instrument. of course when i buy my koto and take it back to canada with me i wonder where ill get it stringed.

  • Chords Canada in Toronto can string them.

  • lol that would be a problem :P

  • Where can I get a DL of this?

  • Magnificent!!!! BRAVO!

  • skillz ^^

  • thats beautiful

  • arigato gozaimazu

  • the tradition to practice the koto is a good one.

  • Very very beautiful!

  • what is the different between rokudan, koto and zheng from china? these instruments look similar.

  • The Rokudan is a traditional movement for the koto and the Chinese guzheng is the ancestor of the koto, somewhat like the relationship between a clavichord and a piano.

  • How beautiful.

  • wow amazing

  • Arigatô.

    Genial, thanks

  • Nobody likes a showoff.

Shut up and enjoy the music.

  • Really, I've listened to this piece many times, but this speed is so perfect for this song. All the other videos are played quite slow compared to this one. :)

  • i really want to get a koto, but they come in pieces and i dont know how to assemble one :(

  • Hello pumpkingoth !

Surprising ! How a koto can come in pieces ?... Sorry, I can't help you.

    Good luck !

    Nobuko Matsumiya

  • well the board comes in one piece with the strings, but the bridges come seperately

  • pumpkingoth hello,

So is there any problem with that ? You receive the board and the strings, and then you wait calmly for the bridges... And when you get everything, you assemble the stuffs and then you can start to play. I think this is the way. For my own, I would do like this... But please ask the other readers if they have a better solution.

  • Nani?

  • that is normal speed for pro musician.

  • I was unaware that it was to be played so quickly. Thank you. I will attempt to enjoy it at the faster tempo.

  • what is the name of the instrument that is being played?

  • its a koto its a beautiful instrument...

  • ありがとうございました。私は喜んでこの美しい音楽です。ご挨拶 Galiza

  • what are on the tips of your fingers?

  • i think they are plectrums.

  • They are individual finger picks.

  • cool :)

  • and they are probably not practical for faster playing

  • well you're suppost to use the picks... that's how alot of the koto sound comes from.

  • Those are synthetic nails used to play Zithers like the Guzheng. They use some sort of tape to tape the ''nail'' to the tip of the finger.

  • In Guzheng they typically do use tape to hold the nail or picks. In Koto the picks or Tsume are held on with bands or Wa which are often made of lacquered paper. Often the fingers are licked to allow the Wa/Tsume to be forced on to the fingers. The Tsume were traditional made of ivory or bone, but now plastic is often used.

  • c'est trop trop bien la musique!wawo!

  • beautiful

  • pas mal

  • Vraiment forte.

  • oui mais pas mal non?

  • el maitrise sa déchire:)

  • C'est tout simplement magnifique :)
