  • Nice test. This is like cold fusion. Thanks for sharing.

I just subscribed to your channel.

  • Looks like SVEA is not lightning too easily.

  • This is an excellent demo for stoves. People need to do this more often.

  • That is the same kind of stove I heat my food with in the army!

  • Thats awesome that you can see the ice melting haha.

  • A simple trick to start trangia like alcohol stoves in freezing conditions is to use some chicken fence or metal screen and sandwich a small tuff of fiberglass pink insulation between two pieces of fencing or screen and let it sit inside the trangia just above the fuel level. The insulation acts as a wick and vapourizes the fuel much more quickly.

The screen also sticks well to the inside of the stove.

  • @SaviourSole OK - you may not realize it, but ice can be colder than 32*f. In this case the ice was at 0*f.

  • I use methanol and a army firesteel and the Trangia stove runs instandly, even at -20 C

Firesteels are even keeping your poor fingers at a much safer distance;-)

  • This type of problem is solved simply by putting your stove and fuel in your coat pocket in winter. Even with hand warmers in an extreme case :o)

  • i use my trangia out ice fishing in 10 F with it sitting on ice and it works fine
