Everyone below commenting on the difference between puerto ricans and nuyorican are fucking ignorant idiots. Being born in the states doesn't make you any less boricua than someone born in the island. And not all puerto ricans from the island know who albizu campos is dummies.
I used to have that speech on cassette tape and wore it out. But what a shame that young man compared him to Malcolm X. I don't think the comparison is a fair one (no offense to Malcolm X or the African Americans). We have a language - a musical expression - a culture.

Colonvic: I agree with you completely. Continuing to solidify a line of separation between those from the island and those from the diaspora only fulfills the United States goal. The reason stated for Operation Bootstrap was to solve the issue of "overpopulation" in Puerto Rico, but what their true intentions were to "divide and conquer," the U.S. government only solved "overpopulation" with more overpopulation, by sending Puerto Ricans to the overpopulated and under-employed ghettos in New York
I am tired of all this Puerto Rican v New Yorican crap. We will never be a united people and accomplish anything if we continue to divide ourselves. Stop the crap already!!
@colonvic The comment Elypmedina made IS true! t's not a matter of degrading the Nuyorican versus us Puertoricans from the island. It's reality: they do not teach History of Puerto Rico in the public school system in New York, therefore the people interviewed in this documentary are not a faithful proof of the general knowledge of who Albizu is. And it's not the Nuyoricans' fault as far as my opinion, because they certainly don't get to choose their curriculum. No personal attack -- Chillax!
@colonvic Its easy to resolve. Puerto Ricans need to stop being so arrogant and stop acting as if they are superior to NewYoricans. And NewYoricans need to stop being so ignorant.

make no mistake. campos (R.I.P.) was a political messiah sent to the puerto ricans. he was a mosses that split the sea (metaphor for the conscious) of the puerto ricans. he lead them to see / grasp the REALITY of the ideology of the monstrous imperialism. this scholar is the mother / father of that race. this gentlemen is the motive to the rhythmic hearts of the puerto ricans.
whenever he spoke, the enemies ran. he is a living bible, he is a moving mountain, he is wisdon, he's campos rip..

@jorgeisaac7 I was asking myself that as well. I assume it's for the people that migrated to the states that have stopped speaking in Spanish after a few generations.
make no mistake. campos was the political messiah. he was the mosses that split the sea for the many of puerto ricans. this puerto rican phenomenal scholar was the antitheses of a descending angel of the highest rank, to open the conscious (via political) of that wonderful race. this gentlemen is the mother / father of all the puerto ricans. he is without a doubt, behind the rhythmic move of the strong puerto rican hearts. whenever he spoke, the enemy ran. i will always LOVE him..R.I.P.
eso de nuyoriqueno bla bla no stupit will divide even more 4 millones vende patria vende-raza like elypipi-medina you arent de la mata.en boriquen los vende se lo chupan alos gringos por 110 anos dejan que los gusanosde miami se metan in our affairs. y dejan que la mayoria de dominicos usen la isla como papel de toilet
these cats were doing the same thing i was doing. asking people if they new who albizu was. To see some one making a documentary about this afro-latin solider is awesome. And i hope who ever sees this will understand why Blacks and latinos are family and will always be family. from Albizu to malcom X. From The Black panthers to the Young lords. C'mon people lets WAKE UP!
"But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prisons houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore. Who among you will give ear to this: who will hearken and hear for the time to come? Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the Lord, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, heither were they obedient unto his law." (Isaiah 42:22-24)
This man knew what our island needed, it's just said that now our people feel that they need the United States for everything. We need to separate ourselves from this hypocritical country!!! I'm embarrassed to have been born with their citizenship!!! I'm Puerto Rican NOT U.S. American!!

He said that "the average "Puertorricans" have no idea of whom was Pedro Albizu Campos" but, those peole at the end of the Documentary are "Nuyouricans", not "Puertorricans", which is not the same thing. Most of the Puertorricans know about Albizu Campos, regardless their political views!
@Elypmedina who cares where they are from , if those nuyoricans want to know thier past then let them , remember alot of puerto ricans move to the states to find work
@joeysings We would like tho think they are, but they are not, just like Mexicans from Mexico are not the same as Chicanos or Mexican-American from California or Texas. Most immigrants start to loose the native idiosyncrasies after their second generation, and by now many Puerto Ricans in New York are on their third and fourth generation. In my opinion, "USA-Ricans" have hold pretty good to their characterisitcs. Still, just go to the Island and see if they are the same.
I Agree... Most Nuyoricans don't know who Albizu Campos was/is... They talk about Patriotism in a very romantic way... Like all political-revolutionary figures Pedro is controversial. For some a hero for others a terrorist. We need to approach history with open eyes!
@Elypmedina that is totally right as a nuyorican raised in ponce i can state that we learned all about our history in our land but once we leave noone knows about him, because we are not taught our history as a nation in the U.S.
@Elypmedina Dumbass you know what he ment and I believe everyone understands. And i actually know a few people born in island of puerto rico who have know clue who pedro albizu was. The reason why is because the average puerto rican old timer doesn't open their damn mouth to keep this man's legacy alive.. That's the only way because the damn history books in the states do not agknowledge the fuc*in truth!
@Elypmedina A Puerto Rican is a Puerto Rican no matter where they are at. The reason why Puerto Ricans in NY don't know about him is because he's not taught in our schools. I'm a proud Puerto Rican that was born and raised in New York. It's an insult that my own people do not consider me Puerto Rican even though my blood line proves it. It's not my fault I was born in NY so people in the island need to stop the separation. It actually contradicts what Albizu Campos was fighting for.
@Elypmedina "NuyoRicans" are "PuertoRicans" lol Just immigrated there most "PuertoRican" immigrate to Nyc or Boston even Florida... So dont say there not "PuertoRicans" because they are they just want a better life and a chance to vote for the president.
@Elypmedina ¡Gracias!
@Elypmedina Even so, a lot of Puertorricans here in the island don't know who he is. Perhaps they have a slight idea but they don't realize the greatness of this man and his idealism. A lot of the people in the island are becoming stupefied thanks to the meaningless things the nation portraits on it's masses, in other words, their starting to look more "Nuyouricans" than Puertorricans or perhaps even worse.
Where can I watch the whole documentary? I used to be PNP until I moved to California & discovered the god-awful truth about the colonization of the US in Borinquen. Albizu can be considered a terroritst, but like Malcolm X said awhile back "BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY".Peace.
I am Costa Rican/Honduran/American and my parents made a point of teaching me the history of my people. It is sad how many Puerto Ricans do not know their history. I have found that most of the time, I know more history about Puerto Rican than Puerto Ricans themselves. It shouldn't be that way. We need to educate ourselves!
Albiz campos....I learned after 25 yrs....I am teaching my children today what my parents were to caught up or to poor to learn...We are portoriquenos de Nueva Jersey...PAQUE TU LO SEPA! TATO
ALBIZU IS MY FAMILY, N URS...ESPECIALLY IF U RELATED IN ANYWAY TO THE PR LIBERATION PROJECTS
u know i think this is a pretty good vid of Pedro Albizu Campos, but da only thing dat ticks me off is dat it says da average Puerto Rican dosent know about Albizu, dis gets me mad cause instead of askin a real PUERTORRIQUEÑO they go ask those people in new york wen probably most of dem wernt born or have neva even been 2 da island!
the truth is most puertoricans born away from the island really dont know of him and sadly do not take it upon themselves to learn their history. EL MAESTRO, frankly is the definition of a gangster and a gentlemen. he is a patriot and represented his country regardless of consequence.
How would they know of them? Ignorance is not an excuse. We have to take the initiative to educate ourselves. But this is not a subject that is covered in American history or even World History, and if it is it will be brief and biased. Not only that many Puerto Ricans come here because of financial hardship, unfortunately teaching their children about Don Pedro is the last thing on their minds. Not to mention there are many on the island that have a very different agenda.
@rayleverkunst - Most Puerto Ricans in the island know about Albizu Campos, the people shown in this documentary are Puerto Rican Americans or Niuyoricans not they are not in touch with the history of Puerto Rico or the culture other than rice and beans they don't know much, Puerto Ricans raised in the island are most educated and in touch with their roots.
Don Pedro was/is our Father, our speaker our leader. yet, today, we have many traitors who take their hats off to Bush,Obama, etc...
If you listen carefully, things have not changed for us Puerto Ricans. We're too busy trying to act Black or white. While we have african/Spanish blood in our viens, "We Are Puerto Ricans", the only Island in the Caribbean that has been raped form it's culture............
well let me be the frist bori to say I believe what he saying, as the generation have cane rican have became weak, fruitless, empty, hopeless, and worthless as the island go down the toilet, and I blam the pareants as there kids are fruitless don't care don't speaak the language , don't know there history there empty souls.this man was smart as hell a harvard grad, war hero, poet, jornalist, civil rights learder, this man is what separtes us from the other latinos, as our fight is uniqe.
well let be the frist rican to say I do believe in what he was talking about as he was educated and as real as they come through genration rican have have become week, don't care, live empty lives, and there kid's grow up empty, and useless, to what happens to puertorico and for get this man, this man and our movement is what makes us differnet then other hispanics! this educated warrior havard educated, amry hero, laywer not bad. migente look into your soul and let the movement begin
Yo no olvidare a Albizu... Lo halle, lo llore y nunca lo olvidare... Viva Puerto Rico libre y socialista... Abajo las fronteras y la pobreza... Abajo el Tio Sam... Con lagrimas en mis ojos... La revolucion algun dia llegara... Nuestro padre...
Puerto Rico is dead! The flag means nothing anymore! The culture has been destroyed and the police state will very soon become obvious. Just as Aruba, who is controlled by the mafia...

E. Francis Riggs's brother was the first Catholic Chaplin at Yale, his father was the co-founder of Riggs bank which was always jesuit affiliated. the CIA was started by Roman catholic, knight of malta, William Donovan. Do people not realize that the Vatican was deep into the mix regarding Puerto Rico at this time?
Mega Brutal, Muchas Gracias!!!
The United States got the power and money. They took Puerto Rico and it hasn't been the same since. That's why I came to America to work hard and get a education. The White House will always own P.R.
Lets hope the white house won´t own PR forever. I have faith that someday we will achieve true sovereignty and under good terms with the US and the rest of the world.
and you're proud of that?? the fact is that we're a fucking colony of the US. they opressed us and gave us the "leyes de Cabotaje". and you're proud of that??
do you know who or what company is producing the film? or is it still an independent doc. i would love to help in the production even for free. if you have any info. please send me a message.
I hate watching Ghetto Ricans misrepresent real Puerto Ricans. They don't know shit about Puerto Rico history but then they want to represent. Only reason the want to misrepresent PR is because they are U.S. rejects.
Yeah we have plenty but ghettoricans (U.S. trash ricans) are worse because they are clueless of what a been a real Puerto Rican is. They speak and act like ghetto african-americans and that my friend is not Rican.
Wow...I grew up in the Bronx all my life; I go to a private college and work two good jobs in a gym and at my college. I know plenty of Nuyoricans who work hard, live happy respectable lives; and eventually move out of the city and settle in suburban areas in Florida, Texas, Upstate NY and Connecticut.
I also know GHETTO people in Carolina, Puerto Rico back to Santurce.
Wow you can genralize a bullshit statement like that.Oh lat i looked The Island falls under the U.S unfortunatly. I agree there some Idiots but not all of us are that way some of us know our roots, And progress in life working hard and not living off the system. To some of us being Puerto Rican aint just a Flag its whats in our blood and maybe you can stand to teach those that don't understand whats the true meaning of being a Boriqua !
Have you ever been to a CASERIO? But then again, there are a lot of lawyers, doctors and SUCESSFUL ISLA RICANS in the Island. Theres good and bad everywhere...so stop spreading hate on your cousins.
10% of the island are good people no doubt but the rest are a bunch of conformist pieces of shit. Puerto Rican people do not stand up for respect like other countries. They like their welfare government money and ghetto reguetton music that killed salsa.
lmao salsa was killed by the record labels and artists that refused to put out anything original same reason why the the hype over reggaeton has died out
Most puerto ricans don't read and you seem to be one of them.
that part where they asked the strangers at the pr day parade was cringe worthy and embarrassing.dejen de estar celebrando si no tiene que celebrar.las isla todavia esta ocupada. despiertense ya.
Drugs(cocaine/crack) were introduced to America by the contras from Nicaragua that were supported by the US government. Your whole arguement is based off of mafia movies and your lack of the capability to believe the US does bad things. Who's ignorant? Who's the one who cant think for themselves?
Everyone below commenting on the difference between puerto ricans and nuyorican are fucking ignorant idiots. Being born in the states doesn't make you any less boricua than someone born in the island. And not all puerto ricans from the island know who albizu campos is dummies.

"But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prisons houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore. Who among you will give ear to this: who will hearken and hear for the time to come? Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the Lord, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, heither were they obedient unto his law." He said that "the average "Puertorricans" have no idea of whom was Pedro Albizu Campos" but, those peole at the end of the Documentary are "Nuyouricans", not "Puertorricans", which is not the same thing. Most of the Puertorricans know about Albizu Campos, regardless their political views!

@Elypmedina : Puerto Ricans and Neyoricans ARE the same thing!! Where do you get your logic??
joeysings 1 year ago

That's the only way because the damn history books in the states do not agknowledge the fuc*in truth!
imprisonmasons 1 year ago
@Elypmedina A Puerto Rican is a Puerto Rican no matter where they are at. The reason why Puerto Ricans in NY don't know about him is because he's not taught in our schools. I'm a proud Puerto Rican that was born and raised in New York. It's an insult that my own people do not consider me Puerto Rican even though my blood line proves it. It's not my fault I was born in NY so people in the island need to stop the separation. It actually contradicts what Albizu Campos was fighting for.
DirtyMekanic 1 year ago
@Elypmedina "NuyoRicans" are "PuertoRicans" lol Just immigrated there most "PuertoRican" immigrate to Nyc or Boston even Florida... So dont say there not "PuertoRicans" because they are they just want a better life and a chance to vote for the president.
djpjineffect 1 year ago
@Elypmedina ¡Gracias!

Erudite777 4 years ago
lmao salsa was killed by the record labels and artists that refused to put out anything original same reason why the the hype over reggaeton has died out

Erudite777 4 years ago

Drugs(cocaine/crack) were introduced to America by the contras from Nicaragua that were supported by the US government. Your whole arguement is based off of mafia movies and your lack of the capability to believe the US does bad things. Who's ignorant? Who's the one who cant think for themselves?
