You can buy a mint F5 for the price of a cheap entry level digital DSLR, but you get the best 35mm professional camera ever made and it is compatible with modern lenses, if you already have a digital SLR.
There is really no reason why you shouldn't have one :D
I wanted to go for D7000, but I think I'll take D3100 and F5 instead - my whole Canon kit was stolen some time ago.
love the picture quality hate the weight, i sell mine because i wanted to use it a lot but i finished my day with nek muscle pain. but seriously one of the best cameras i ever had.
yes this camera uses only FX lenses, DX is specifically for digital cameras. It's best to invest in FX lenses only so you can interchangeably use them between the F5, D90 and FX DSLR cameras. Start your collection with a Nikkor 50mm F1.8
Great video I'm going to get a job so I can get. One suggestion though is try to get an idea of where the frame is for you camera your recording this and tape a little out of the view because for some of it I can see your arms more then the camera.
I would advice you to put also an eye glass on the back at the prism (thoug they lost easely) but cool to see a person to use hp5, but I also have heard that it is better to expose hp5 as iso 250. bu succes
I have the Nikon F5 camera, it really is a solid built and can withstand some punishment when in the field and the 8 FPS is fast when doing sports photography. Enjoy the camera.
I love you for posting this video. I would ask you if you could name some disadvantages of the f5(if it has any). I'll probably be buying the f5 and I need to know more about it, before I buy it. Thank you very much for answering. :D
- Earlier versions are very power hungry, and 8AAs to bring on an expedition could be a bit much.
- Focus points are not lit, so in night time situations you'll be relying on the little arrows around the frame to guide you.
- It's heavy, 1 kg w/ batteries to be precise, combine this with a SB-900 flash and an 80-200mm and you're lugging around something with the weight of a bullion of gold.
These are the only ones I've found, aside from these, it's a fantastic camera!
Yep, it also adds to the feeling of great build quality when you hold it in your hands. I quite like the vertical grip on the F5, although sadly it's missing the twiddly knobs that the F6 has.
Yeah awesome build quality. and yeah that does suck... I've never used an F6 but my D3 has the vertical dials and I have missed them on the F5. I keep feeling for them when in portrait stance lol. Still... fantastic camera.
I sold my Canon 5D Mark II because Id like to buy an F5.

or a 50 mm 1.4 or a 35mm 1.8. Both great lenses too!

@popitn2nd yes its FX, no wonder that you get vignet with that lens, its normal put a higher aperture number and that will get rid of it.

@magicmark1292 Cool, thanks, I'll keep that in mind, I didn't have any instant feedback so had no idea where the camera was pointing it.

Can you tell me how much you paid for it, only because im looking to see if people are selling it for a fair price
mpcpro424 2 years ago
@mpcpro424 between $250- $400 on ebay, you might want to look at the F100 which is also a good camera.

Heyas, I'm using the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 AF-D (one-ring version), it's a pretty sweet lens.

it's lighter than the D3 though lol... slightly. and yeah. great camera. you tired using it without the prism yet? nice waist level feature...
DemonicGenocide 2 years ago
It still weighs just over a kilo with just the body, slap a 28-70mm or an 80-200mm and it's truly a tank!

true... I like a heavy camera tho... heavy is reliable :P
