Severe Storm in Townsville on Monday 8 December 2008

Anyone remember the really bad storm we had in townsville in, i think 06 or 07, at 3am monday morning?. now that was a fucken crazy storm

I Live in Townsville ( Mount Low/Bushland beach) it has been near 40 years since out last Cyclone, That hit Townsville, it was Cyclone Elthea in 1971, so that means we are well over due over a big Cyclone. and some sevre thunderstorms this Cyclone season.

We have never had anything like this in the UK - the thunder sounds like bombs going off and such close strikes WOW

did u c at the wier near annandale and aitkenvale, in jan after the rain had sorta got heavier the wier was overflowing over the paths n shit. and down near murray skate park and the bridge the water was over the road. so cool

Frequent lightning, high winds and flash flooding. Our local weather service issued a severe storm warning for this one. I've been in Townsville since 1986 and this was the first severe storm warning issued since Xmas day 1987 (to my knowledge).

Great footage. That was a wicked storm that day. I had never seen anything like it before. There just wasn't any break between lightning strikes. It just went on and on. We sat at the back door for ages just watching the lightning hit Mt. Stuart again and again.
