This is just basic poker strategy. Once you know they are trapping in the same spots and two over cards show up its obvious at that point you should call with queen rag suited.
for those of you who are ignorant, jungleman is probably the best no limit heads up player in the world (easily top 3). he is a multi-millionaire online poker player. also: high stakes headsup nl games at a top tier level are incredibly aggressive and people tend to bluff raise flops and barrel lots of board textures, which play into his read.
This is sickness. I'm never calling that river... zero showdown value, he just went with his read, which was a VERY good read. I'd personally be worried about him hitting bottom pair or some bs like that. Alot of Loose donkeys shove that river with bottom pair anyways when they dont know how to get away from their hand.
the Q high call is not that sick if u know u are up against a thinking player that does checkraise flops as a bluff. still think the line jungleman took is not that profitable and i do think he should shove the turn bec it makes the hand that much easier to play and he folds out weak made hands his opponent turns into bluffs OTF.
@mlucyk The main difference between a pro calling with queen high and a donk calling with queen high is that it takes a pro four minutes to explain why he did while the donk just did it for the sake of doing something unconventional.
There's a cool article about Daniel Cates either in The New Yorker or The New York Times. I forget. But it's there and he talks about being a poker player and basically his life. It's a nice article. He seems like a nice guy.
I GUARANTEE YOU , ANY PLAYER WHO CALLS DOWN A GUY REGULARLY WITH QUEEN HIGH REGARDLESS OF THE BOARD, WILL BE A LOSING MONEY PLAYER. IT'S EASY TO TALK ABOUT A HAND AFTER IT'S ALL OVER AND COME ACROSS AS A HERO. I SEE ALL THESE "INSTRUCTORS" TALK ABOUT THEIR PRE PLAYED HANDS LOL .MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE YOUR BAD CALLS IN YOUR VIDEOS CON ARTISTS
@Smokey0791 your an idiot. He doesn't call down a guy REGULARLY..... this was an extremely special spot and his analysis from the hand and the opponents past play led him to believe that a call was correct in that spot.
@Smokey0791 You really don't know what you're talking about. This guy is one of the most successful players in online poker today. He doesn't call down regularly with Q high, he calls in spots like these where he'll be +EV against his opponent's range, which is nothing.
thats a terrible call come on haha. He caught the guy bluffing but overall your losing in the long run and that guy can easily have 2 pair with a weak ace like an ace jack type hand. This is a dam joke this call is way to light and really he ballooned a pot with queen high when he could of just folded the flop and waited for better spot.
i would have love to have seen this live. and hear what you were thinking in the few seconds you were taking in between streets. rather than the results oriented replay :) that would have been gold imo
Are you guys retarded? He's talking about calling this one time vs this one particular player and everything he says makes sense. He's calling because he thinks he's good a big enough % of the time for this to be +ev.
@theteckman I'm sure it is for you. That conclusion is understandable from person who doesn't know how to play poker, what poker is, and what it's all about.
yeh with that river call - jungleman seems to flat call flops a lot with ace high or king high to then hit a king on the turn or river - so how does he know the same hasnt happened to this person?
actually the ppl saying that you're not supposed to comment on such a player's video just because he's a high roller and the rest of us aren't are simply put morons and will never ever learn the game... questioning such a good player's play will only lead you to question your own thought process on the game and surely means that you won't just absorb anything that a good player tells you. You filter it out, you question it, you study it and therefore you end up being better yourself.
I feel silly criticizing this guy but calling the river with Queen high is horrible. Think about it, he's just showing you ONE time when it worked when you will be losing in the long run by doing that.
@durealeminem totally agree i said myself ive seen clips of him call a flop bet with king or ace high to only hit an ace on the turn or the river - which is exaclty what could have happened in this hand to villain
I think when you try to make hero calls at low and mid stakes it's a terrible idea, but when you're this good, and you're playinga somebody like jungleman, you can make these calls if you have the right reads. I feel like this player didn't explain it as well, but there's a video on here somewhere showing Phil Galfond calling with Jack high or something, and he explains in a very detailed way how he came to that decision and it actually made sense.
Hey man, i was wondering if you could help me out. i want to improve my game and I see you have stats on each player you are playing. I was wondering if you could help me out with that. I am looking to improve my game in that way as well as others. I am subscribing. Thanks in advance
shoving the turn is a better move-- its just a rare guess call in a long HU game with gd pot odds by the river stage - his kicker is weak- also no usual river bet; thats why a snap call and not a thought decicsion, as his mind already made up by the 3 bet flop move ; also nice king and ace-- hope to see the durrrr challenge then we will see what hes made of
after seeing this , i suck bigtime. jungle is a talented player and a very polite person. Ive sat down at his tables a few times and he is always very nice . GL JUNGLE
All i can say is that has opened up my mind, i float alot and think its a great advanced move if done from a place of knowledge and understanding not just doing it all the time blindly.... but calling a 3-bet and floating i dont think i have ever done it.... often my thinking pattern is when they 3 bet they have something...but thats obviously 98% the truth at the stakes i play.... :)
@lollerz16 because TV is all tournaments and they aren't nearly deep enough stacked to let a hand like this develop. in HSP on GSN these types of hands happen.
@ThreeBetLight I can't think of a hand on HSP where a guy has insta called with queen high on a board with an ace and a king. And I've watched quite a lot of HSP.
the program is most likely holdem manager.. but a program can only show some stats.. to play a hand like this one "Q high" on 6 tables HU,, you need some idiot savant super power..
This is just basic poker strategy. Once you know they are trapping in the same spots and two over cards show up its obvious at that point you should call with queen rag suited.
