I liked the coloured world map, teh penalty shoot outs, the world cup tables, but otherwise the main gameplay was just too painful.

Hammer the tackle/shoot button repeatedly and score from a diagnoal angle, I probably didnt know all the tricks but was just about able to grind out a win over any team, but usually got bored well before reachign the final.

The samba music was fun, although started to make you go insane after 30+ mins repeated.

Years ago I played a football game on Sega MegaDrive, It was Japanese and was sort of pseudo 3D.

It was fast and more colourful than most other football games.

I thinking it came out between 1990 and 1994, It was completely different to Italia 90 that was released in Europe.

you don't know how to score on the master system version. you have to go in front the side into the area, then the goalkeeper comes after you, you pass to another player who is always waiting in the middle, and he scores. i used to score more than 30 goals per game easy. otherwise it's almost impossible to score because you can't really control the shot direction well.

Oh, you have both! I've beaten it with all the teams (took many years on and off) but I find the game easy. It was the first megadrive game i played, going from a Commodore 64, so I have a soft spot for it. But here's a tip for you if you're struggling: There's no such thing as seeding in this game. So keep redoing the draw, till you have 4 dominant teams in one group, or 3 weak teams in yours, to stack the odds in your favor. I did that with the weak teams.
