  • where is the battle?? it's pussyfight

  • I'm proud. I've managed to successfully troll this video for two whole years. Thank you internet 'experts.'

  • nice job filming there feet

  • What group is this. I am in the SCA and we do not use live steel, and I am interested in finding this group

  • Damn.Dying back then must have been painful.

  • Pretty good.

Could be better, as with blunted weapons they weren't effectively driving them back with spears.

That and the lack of archers and mounted knights.

(if they were rich enough to purchase all the equipment i.e armor, under armor, squire to help putting on the armor and looking after the equipment, and weaponry.

They could almost certianly afford a horse)

That and from the look of it hardly ant are trained.

  • this is larping but only with real weps ahhhhhh this is great

  • I live there :D

It's at 14 and 15 August, and after this, at the night of the 15th, it's St-Rochus verlichting, when the entire city is lightened by chandles, and no street lights are lit.

  • They are using the pole weapons incorrectly and should have devastated the other side.

  • huh. Nobody died.

  • Where can you buy this armour they have?

  • une belle bande de grands malades

  • foreveralone.jpeg

  • This is an example of when men fought like men. Up close and personal. Not from a UAV 2,000 ft in the sky over Iraq and being controlled by some dude in Arizona.

  • @BIPICY This style of warfare was also much more gruesome.I would imagine death in this type of combat would be much more agonizing and drawn out.

  • @BIPICY Or by flying a plane into another country's towers and killing thousands right?

  • you can die or hurt very bad in that?

  • @kenluash well they tend to use non sharpend blads for that reson and they dont litraly stab them looks like it but they dont so no one really get hurt un less ur knocked out by a shield wall

  • is this at hedingham castle? it looks very simuler when i went to see this here

  • That fag in Knight's armor.........hits like a usual ex warcraft ner or worse...In real life to become a knight u need alot more than swinging a sword like a tart, they would have cut off ur head or leg.....u be for life working in the farm or begging the street.......all in space of 5 min through the battle, u retards........the face u ave in medieval times would have been considered as some handy boy down the squatters.,......they will need to go bankrupt just to employ barbers...........fags

  • @MaxiBoOoY you know that this is a show right? I was in one of these club things for a while and they're pretty strict on safety

  • @TheLastEnglishmen No! I just thought he made a lot more sense, especially when you and your little 4 eyed friends would have their skulls cracked open in a fist fight, judging from this video

Are you really a freaky fucker or just contributing to the fun?

  • Wouldn't wanna be the gimpy fuck prancing about in cloth... Give me some armour if you're going to swing swords at me!!

  • That fag in Knight's armor.........hits like a usual ex warcraft ner or worse...In real life to become a knight u need alot more than swinging a sword like a tart, they would have cut off ur head or leg.....u be for life working in the farm or begging the street.......all in space of 5 min through the battle, u retards........the face u ave in medieval times would have been considered as some handy boy down the squatters.,......they will need to go bankrupt just to employ barbers...........fags.

  • Haha, damn are some people really expecting to see reen->actors<- to bash eachothers head in? Just because it's not holywood with buckets of ketchup flying everywhere and perfect camera-angles/shots they call it pathetic.. I say that's pathetic in itself and quite underestimating these peeps for that matter.

  • Holy, those are live blades!

  • Real life?

Add more brutality, hit the gym, drop the balls, cut long hair.

  • @MaxiBoOoY Couldnt say it better myself LOL

  • great vid this makes we want to do this and play dragon age origins lol

  • that would be fucking awesome lol

  • Reenactments lack the "soul" of the real thing, these staged fights are as Doppia123 said: pathetic! They don't look like they want to chop the others in half, bust a skull in, or decapitate...

    They are more like:

"Hey mate! Check out my new gear!"

    *Friendly poke*

  • Yeah... you know how much costs this equipment? It is supposed to be original-like material made by hand from iron grades that simply does not exist today (due to inustrialisation of processes...etc. )... I had heard that the average armour costs anything between 3000 and 5000 euros and the nice full armours even more, almost the price of a car. Asking them to make it look more violent would be like taking your brand new car and scratching its paint with a knife... you wouldn't do that do you?

  • Why do you compare a suit of armor to a car?

Actually its a pretty good example.

They are the same price? Not really

But why waste so much money if they're not going to use it the way its suppose to?

It's like buying a car and have it in your garage because you're afraid of a little scratch on it...

....Or scratching the paint on it as you said.

Btw, you could buy a replica for perhaps 350 euros at a martial-arts store.

Plus: They're going to have scratches on the suit anyway.

  • Not true, some of the people looked like they charged in to bust some skulls xD Other people are just too cautious . . . .

  • @solitajre222

Well, they have to keep safety in mind at these big events. Even though they're all wearing armor, it doesn't take much to actually get bloodied up if you don't respect the nature of the combat. Its like the WWII reenacting that I do; we don't shoot the weapons at close range or come within fifty feet of the tanks because we know powder burns and crushed legs are in the nature of modern combat.

  • problem with these reenactments is that the fighting looks so pathetic.. like there are two guys and the other guy has spear and his opponent has sword and shield and they just poke each other and they just keep poking each other as long as their opponent wont fail moving 10 inches backwards for not to take on that light and delicate poke...

  • soccer riots are MUCH more violent

  • no dead, ofcourse not morron!

no one injured is a big thing to say, most times somebody get a cut or something broken, bruises are common

  • ^-- That sounds so pathetic.... "OH NO! I'VE BEEN BRUISED! CALL THE MEDIC!"

  • lol

  • You made an excellent shot of...the feet moving on the grass. Dumb clip.

  • not at all mate

plate armour rocksn why else would they have used it?;)

plate armour grants you quite a lot manouverability as told here before and it offers way more protection then mail

  • Only downside in plate is the weight, but as ExtremeDeathman said, if you have trained in plate armor and become used to that weight then it isn't always an influencing factor

  • Yeah but plate armor doesn't weigh that much it only weighs about 40 to 50 pounds and its all distributed and spread across the body so it would feel like hardly anything.

  • Having fought in full plate often, I can tell you that plate really isn't that heavy. From the first time I used it, to the last time, I've felt no difference in encumberance due to weight, only my muscles becoming more used to the armour. This would actually apply to any armour.

Really, the 'heavy armour' argument doesn't come in until the 17th century, when armour became thicker and thicker to protect against muskets. This is why it was eventually discarded, due to weight.

  • @gothicmarine yeah but try fighting a whole battle in plate without rest. Battles back then lasted all day you know.

  • @zrah1092 Then you would also know they did not fight constantly. There were breaks in battle, and there is also the belief that soldiers fought with partners. They tagged each other in so to speak while the other rested for a moment.

  • @gothicmarine

Technically you and your thumb-up friends are wrong

  • @gothicmarine I'll stay in my tank.

  • @gothicmarine yes but good luck getting back up if u fall

  • @ACJacko1 i trainned man in his armor can move just as well as a un trainned man in his street clothes, the full suit of plate armor was only about 80- to 100 lbs less then what a modern U.S. Marine carries.

  • @gothicmarine dont forget that plate armor is heavier than chainmail and it tires the wearer realy fast if he has the dumb idea to run around like a stupid monkey ;))

  • @warbossgrotsmasha23 The actual weight was about the same for both; 70 pounds in a full suit. Plate armor had better wieght distribution and protection, but maille was much cheaper and offered better range of motion and was much less noisy.

  • I own a full plate suit of armor. It offers great manouverability, and covers body perfectly. There is no dummy-like lack of movement, since every plate is designed to follow body's movement. Much better, weight is so well distributed over the whole body you can still move quick, run (even if at a slower pace) and even jump (not very high, of course, but you still can do it). I suspect the scale-armour mith is conveyed from role-playing games...

  • @zombiesrcuming4u

    nope, ur wrong

  • @zombiesrcuming4u this isnt a computer game its better to be armored like a turtle and not get a scratch on you rather than sacrficing defense for mobility

  • @zombiesrcuming4u you know nothing lol

  • just cut of the sharp edge and use a file?

  • i have a chainmail and a vikingsword and axe and do someone know how to blunt a axe

  • you need to fold the steel but you need a fordge.

fold the steel by making it soft and hammering it around and form it how you want with your hammer.

  • actually last thing you'd want is to be putting the peice in a forge without a lot of practice.

it's far safer, easier, and more effective (in that it does'nt wreck tempers or discolour the metal) to simply use a heavy file, and take the edge off down to about 2mm-3mm thick, and then hammer out dints in use so the metal work-hardens on that edge.

  • but its more fun in the forge, and also filing it takes way to long, well to me it does

  • filing shouldn't take more than half an hour of the blade in a vice and some passes over the face with a heavy guage metalwork file, and then some finishing with a finer one.

In comparision, throwing it in a forge will likely destroy the temper, and the axe will instantly become both useless and unsafe.

It may be more fun, but it's completely the wrong process to do the job.

  • you keep hitting someone or something over and over again.

  • file it till its 2mm thick most historical re-enactors are happy with that. well out insurace is anyway

  • i use two broad swords witch are heavy but do wonderful

  • i really really wana join

  • Best Cameraman Ever

  • That sword & buckler with a suicide on his mind was funny, good video in general.

  • The sound of clash armies is incredible.

  • Holy craaaaaap. Fighters everywhere!

Man, I need to attend one of these events sometime. Most I've been up against at once is 11 ):

I'd probably get owned though. >.>

  • where are you from? 11 man,that's quite a small army=p

  • New Varangian Guard, South Australia.

We have a couple of small groups around in other states, too.

We don't get to use plate armour, either. Too late for us. We're set around the 900-1200's. We get a lot of Russian and Saxon fighters :P

  • ah well that sucks:p

plate armour is nice^^,it allows you to fight harder=p

  • your plate armour certainly doesnt allow u to play harder. slow from what i seen and wht our U.S. group does. do as you please but dont claim to go hard when u r not. and fast doesnt mean stupid it just means better.

  • it does=/

does your groups uses made to fit armour or just buys the cheapest stuff online from india?

i know beeing fast is good but beeing able to get smacked fully into your body without feeling it gives you over twice the thoughness, which on itself allows you to fight on longer and harder depending on your condition

  • assuming you're in the SCA i think you have to know that we're fighting with all out steel weapons whioch on itself makes the game a lot more dangerous

beleive what you want off it but ask yourself, if plate armourwouldn't allow you to fight better, why would they have bothered making it?

  • first, no we are not sca thank god. sca could only hope to be us. we actually research our period and make sure to be historically accurate, not fantasy like sca crap. second i didnt say plate wouldnt allow u to fight better i mean it doesnt allow YOU to do so.

  • this last you indicates me, right?

sorry but english isn't my second language so this is already a bit confusing.

anyhow, why wouldn't plate armour allow me to fight better because from my point of view those last 2 sentenses are just contradictionary

  • what saxonone is probably trying to say is that the plate itself restricts the body from and massive movement in order to fight with more speed and agility. while i do agree, that is why they made chain-mail; to keep the slashes to a minimum while still being able to move.

  • well, actually a perfect fitting full plate would still allow you to umble and stuff, sure plate restrits you a bit, but when you've got a good armourer who thinks about that you'll get mimimum movement loss

chain mail wasn't made for beeing manouverablein the 15th century, chainmail just excisted already

  • Ah, no. Plate Armor may increase your weight but if you trained in plate armor wearing (like knights were) than you can swim, jump, run, and do a handstand.

Chain mail was invented long befor plate armor, and the reason they founded it was of protecting the body.

Later the weapons became more heavy or durable and a lot of Hellebarten were used, who could easily break up chainmail, so Plate armor was invented.

  • "We get a lot of Russian and Saxon fighters"

what do you mean? reconstructing russian medieval armor etc?

  • hackity hack hack hack... whack... thwack... various violent onomonopoeia terms... whack

  • Is there a reason why you didn't film the best part?

  • well,i didn't filmit, a friend of me did and it seams he has shaky hands=p

if your in the neighbourhood from belgium

this august, 15-16 and 17 in Aarschot there's a 3 day long battle going on=)normally my gf will film the battles and i'll be attending them

  • erm how do people die in them

  • well it depends on your armour, when you get a hit that would kill you eg,a chainmail guy get's hit by a kike in the chest he would die,o sword that cutted him on the other hand would just hurt him a bit,

hence the full plates beeing such tanks

when you don't go down after you would normally be killed some fighters willd efinetly make sure you go down

    A) by hurting you

    B) by simply make you go to the ground and stay there

another way is to die when you get exhausted/hurt,

  • WOw. seems like fun. Do you hold back full strength? Any "mandatory" protection?

  • yes it's full strenght, especially against heavy armoured fighters, newbies mostly get the "soft" treatment:p

    mandatory equipent?

    gambeson, helmet, gloves,that's it

  • You aim for the cracks in the armor, under the armpit, the elbow, neck, etc.

  • I sort of think this isn't as authentic as it could be. The main reason is obviously that things like the spears don't actually pierce anything. When you used a spear you almost let your charging opponent impale himself on it.

Obviously real battles were also really messy too. BUt we have to be sure we dont actually hurt anyone.

  • I think skewering people would have been an insurance nightmare, but yeah, I think I'd forgo the spear and opt for a nice claymore or an Axe and buckler.

  • im not sure but..if you put it all together....most knights made more than their lords did.

  • this guys dont even TRY to fight authentically.... they wear plate armour??um.. middle ages = only the rotten rich could afford FULL plate. chainmail was expensive, yet alone plate.

but hooraah for the medieval reinactment

  • euhm middle ages goes from just leather and wollen armour to full plates...

this is a 15th century battle,

most of the warriors are mercenaries, typically worn be these were a breastplate and such=)during the 15th century most flemishmen were what you would call rich=)

all this stuff kinda depends on which period you reanact=)

  • yeah I have to agree with you, unless there reanacting a medieval war which in this case it dosn't look like that at all. They would all have matching colors and such.

  • You are wrong. Only thing that all soldiers in a same mercenary regiment had was a badge, no matching colours.

  • Brandovich you do know thats the 15th century?

The 15th century is when the Renaissance hit... Renaissance armies had pate armor like crazy... That is not the middle ages...

  • I need a Can Opener!!!!! :-)

  • sorry dude, meant to give you a thumbs up...

  • looks like they would nearly kill each other with that spears :D

  • That looks like fun

  • these men clearly arent warriors. jsut middle age crisis.

  • and why would that be?????=/

if you mean warriors by job i can say no

if you mean by hobby:why not?it's reanactment and not ment to harm someone

  • well look at my other movies here;)those are filmed way better;)

  • Next time could we see something besides feet?

  • I love that full Gothic armor!

  • Hey Roman your on this one as well, you pop up all over the place. LOL

  • COOL
